Honda Manufacturing Nigeria Limited (HMN), founded in 1979, is a leading participant in Nigeria's power products sector and a division of Honda Motor Co., Japan. HMN manufactures and distributes a wide range of motorbikes, portable generators, water pumps, and general-purpose engines from its cutting-edge production facility at KM 6 on the Ota-Idiroko Road in Ota, Ogun State.

Job Title: Account Officer

Location: Ota, Ogun

Job Summary

  • The Account Officer is responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures.
  • This role involves reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • The Account Officer works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate financial operations and contribute to the organization's financial health and success.
  • This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting software and financial principles.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Respond to inquiries from management, auditors, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial management.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4 - 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Proven work experience as an Account Officer or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Completion of NYSC - Discharge or Exemption Certificate required
  • The applicant must be residing in Ogun / Lagos State.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in financial reporting and analysis.
