The Population Council is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources.
The Council's major program areas are HIV&AIDS, reproductive health and poverty, gender, and youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries. The Population Council works in collaboration with a broad range of Nigerian institutions. Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following job positions in its Abuja office

JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator (Community Mobilization & Advocacy)
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will provide leadership in all RH community outreach and field advocacy efforts in line with Council's commitments around reducing maternal mortality and morbidity, and improving youth reproductive well-being in Nigeria.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must have:
·         Level of Education: A minimum of university degree in the Social Sciences, MPH or MSc in a field related to community development or behavior change communication.
·         General communication & interpersonal skill level Excellent
·         Prior experience: 5 years experience implementing community mobilization and/or policy advocacy programs in the context of Reproductive Health Promotion, or Poverty Reduction,. Gender Equality Advancement and Youth Development.
·         Language requirement: Written and spoken English - excellent
·         IT expertise required: Good
·         Experience working in the north, and ability to speak Hausa is preferred
·         Ability to travel within and outside Nigeria


JOB TITLE: Administrative Assistant
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical services in an effective and efficient manner that will ensure that Council operations are maintained to high standards. This position will also provide full support administrative to the Country Director.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have:
·         Level of Education: Bachelor's degree in English language/Secretarial studies, Administration or closely related field
·         Proficiency with office systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint):
·         Ability to work both independently and effectively with all levels of employees with minimal supervision, in addition to also functioning well as part of a team.
·         Knowledge of graphics is useful Proficiency in written and oral English.
·         Excellent communications skills (e.g interpersonal, Writing, presentation, negotiation) Organized and results-orientated.
·         2 to 4 years of relevant experience (With 1 + year of administration) or a satisfactory combination of Education and relevant experience. NGO experience desirable.
·         Ability to work in complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform.
·         Bright, confident personality, highly personable. flexible and mature.

JOB TITLE: PROGRAM OFFICER(RH)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will provide technical support to administrative and field activities in the implementation of Population Council's Maternal Mortality Reduction and Adolescent SRH Promotion Projects focused on Northern Nigeria.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must have:
·         Level of Education: A minimum of university degree in health sciences, and biomedical sciences, MBBS.
·         Ability to travel within Nigeria, especially the north
·         Prior experience: 5 years experience working on maternal health, youth sexual and reproductive health or similar programs
·         General communication & interpersonal skill level Excellent Language requirement: English- excellent
·         IT expertise required: Good
·         Understanding of local communities and culture in northern Nigeria and ability to speak Hausa fluently is required.



JOB TITLE: HEALTH ECONOMIST
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will manage the design of operations research activities in the area of health economics and programme efficacy, through the development of research questions and designs, construction of data collection instruments and databases for data archiving, oversee field work, and conduct data cleaning and analysis. He/she will develop programmatic and advocacy strategies using evidence-base generated by project activities and research; and provide clear summaries of findings for specialist and non-specialist audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must have:
·         Level of Education: Relevant degree(s) in Health Economics, an MPH gives added advantage Language Requirements: Written and spoken English - Excellent
·         Willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis. Required previous experience 5 Years working in health related development programs High degree of independence, creativity and commitment 
·         Level of IT Expertise Required excellent quantitative and computational skills Strong scientific and commercial communication skills
