Social Development Direct Career for a Gender and Equity Specialist

SDDirect is now an international network of over 200 professionals with expertise in social development, gender, human rights, political science, conflict and peace building, and governance with an in-house team of 10 social development specialists. 

Social Development Direct is currently recruiting for a Gender and Equity Specialist for the Education Sector Support in Nigeria programme. This one year position (with the possibility of extension) will be based in Abuja, Nigeria.


Job Title: Gender and Equity Specialist
Location: Abuja and States
Appointment term: One Year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: Competitive salary in line with experience
Specific requirements: You must be eligible to work in Nigeria

The successful applicant will have a masters level qualification in gender or social development, have at least 5 years experience of working in Nigeria or the region on gender and women and girls empowerment, preferably within the education sector and at policy level. The Gender and Equity
Specialist will be a strong team player and have excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
This position is open to Nigerian nationals and/or individuals with the right to live and work in
Nigeria. Local terms and conditions apply.

The Gender and Equity Specialist will be responsible for leading ESSPIN’s work on gender and equity and improving education outcomes for girls and other children currently excluded from school. The focus of the programme is on working with government and civil society organisations to transform the way in which education is delivered in Nigeria.
