University of Lagos - Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos has, for over 5 decades, provided qualitative and research-oriented education to Nigerians and all those who have entered its domain in search of knowledge. At its inception, the University of Lagos was empowered to produce a professional workforce that would steer the political, social and economic development of a newly independent country. 

The University began with three faculties: Commerce and Business Administration, Law and Medicine. The faculties of Arts, Education, Engineering and Science were added in 1964.

The University currently has a School of Postgraduate Studies, a Distance Learning Institute (DLI) and twelve faculties.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION

a. Department of Adult Education

(i) Associate Professor
  • Candidate for this post should possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in respective field from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of 20 teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years.
Preferred Area of Specialisation:
  • Community Development and Social Work.
b.  Department of Science and Technology Education
(i) Professor
  • Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D Degree in the relevant field from a recognized University with not less than 10 years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Education Biology and Education Physics
(ii) Associate Professor
  • Candidate for this post should normally possess a good honour's degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in the relevant field of specialization from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of University teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years.
Area of Specialisation:
  • Education Chemistry, Education Integrated Science, Education Physics and Technology Education (Woodwork and building).
(iii) Senior lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree from a recognized University with a minimum of five years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Education Biology, Education Chemistry, Education Mathematics, Education Integrated Science, Technology Education (Wood work Electrical, Mechanical) Educational Technology.
(iv) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D degree in the respective field from a recognized University with a minimum of four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in area s of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
Areas of specialisation:
  • Education Physics, Education Biology, Education Chemistry, Education Mathematics, Education Integrated Science , Technology Education and Educational Technology.
(v) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally have a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in the respective field from a recognized university.
  • Recognized publications in reputable journals will be an added advantage.
  • Candidate must also have ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
Areas of specialization:
  • Education Physics, Education Biology, Education Chemistry, Education Mathematics, Education Integrated Science and Technology Education.
    c. Department of Educational Administration
    (i) Professor
    • Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of 22 teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or
    • comparable institution of higher learning.
    • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in a
    • reas of expertise. A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years. He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership. Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years, may be considered for appointment.
    Preferred Areas of Specialisation:
    • Educational Administration and Educational Planning.
    (ii) Lecturer II
    • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in any area of Educational Management from a recognized University.
    • Recognised publications in reputable journals will be an added advantage.
    • Competence in Research Methods and Statistics is preferable.
    d. Department of Educational Foundations
    (i) Lecturer II
    • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognized University. Evidence of scholarly publications will be an added advantage. Candidate must have Ph.D in the area of Guidance and Counselling or Measurement and Evaluation, Comparative Studies, Philosophy of Education, Sociology of Education, Educational Psychology.
    (ii) Assistant Lecturer
    • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Masters degree in Guidance and Counselling or Measurement and Evaluation or Comparative Studies from a recognized University.
    • Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D.programme.
    e. Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education

    (i) Professor

    • Candidate for this post should possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
