John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a US based international public health firm managing supply chain management related projects through its integrated offices in Abuja, Nigeria. JSI is implementing the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, a technical assistance project funded by USAID to increase the
availability of essential health supplies through procurement services and strengthening supply chains in developing countries. JSI also implements the Supply Chains Management System (SCMS) contract for the US Government as part of the US Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. The USAID | DELIVER PROJECT works in malaria. The USAID | DELIVER Task Order 7 has been providing technical assistance and support in malaria commodities management procurement, storage, last mile distribution, collation/aggregation of malaria commodities logistics data and Long Lasting Insecticide-treated Nets (LLINs) mass replacement campaign and Logistics Management Information System (LMIS) to the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) and the States Ministry of Health (SMOH).

The USAID | DELIVER PROJECT is seeking to fill the underlisted positions. Under the guidance of the Deputy Chief of Party and direct supervision of Director Malaria, the successful candidates will work with other Logistics Advisors to manage malaria and related health commodities logistics activities implemented by JSI. They will be required to work as team members with other program areas.

Job Title: Logistics Advisor

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and assist in the management of malaria commodities at the assigned State Central Medical Store and health facilities.
  • Conduct physical inventory of malaria commodities on weekly and monthly basis.
  • In collaboration with Logistics Advisors at the central level, provide technical support to MAPS and TSHIP to ensure that health facilities supported by MAPS/TSHIP are adequately supplied with the needed health commodities.
  • Lead the coordination of malaria and related health commodities supplies to health facilities to ensure appropriate and timely refill of facility commodities requirements based on the bimonthly facility stock reports submitted by the MAPS/TSHIP supported health facilities.
  • Serve as the link between the PMI implementing partners, SMOH and Global Fund partners and the state CMS to ensure commodities supplies to health facilities are seamless.
  • Advocate for good malaria commodities logistics management practices in assigned state, local governments and communities.
  • Provide technical assistance and strengthen the capacity of government health personnel and other key malaria program stakeholders as appropriate, in the management of malaria commodity supply, distribution and management in assigned states.
  • Assist in facilitating PSM and malaria commodities bi-monthly review meetings, development of supply plan and distribution of malaria commodities.
  • Support and assist in the development of the master plan, micro plan, house to house registration, distribution, etc for the mass LLI Ns replacement campaign.
  • Write routine, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for submission to program funders.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Skills/Knowledge and Qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy, public health, laboratory science, logistics management, or business administration.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in health programs, preferably in an international health care supply chain management environment.
  • Specific experience in malaria, HIV/AIDS, or TB, programs strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor, supervise and provide support to health facilities in supply chain activities.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Nigerian public health sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills are highly desired.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to be self-managing.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the field.
