Jobs for a Community Care Worker in an NGO in Lagos


Caring Heart Initiative (CHI) is a registered nongovernmental, non religious, nonprofit and non political organization. The organization which is based in Lagos was established in May 2008 to provide holistic compassionate care and support services to Vulnerable Children (VC) and their
households. The vision of the organization is to provide sustainable improvements in the wellbeing and productivity of VC and their households whilst strengthening health and other social services in Six (6) communities of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos States. We work with other organizations, government (Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) and Ministry of Education), and a variety of other local partners.

Caring Heart Initiative (CHI) is currently a sub-recipient of USAID and Global Fund is implementing project to support VC. In view of this we are looking for experienced development professionals to work with the organization. These roles will be critical for the delivery of results for children expected by this program.

Job Title: Community Care Worker (CCW)
Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full Time
Responsibilities

  • To deliver quality standard of care and support to vulnerable children at the households
  • To participate in trainings appropriate for strengthened capacity on service delivery
  • Consult with household head (caregiver) to ensure that care is on going
  • Adhere to the organization's Child Protection Policy (CPP)
  • Conduct school visits to monitor VC's attendance and performance and.
  • Report to project coordinators.
  • Provide Home Based Care services to children in the community with identified needs such as general housekeeping, personal hygiene and Nutrition education
  • Ensure that support is provided according to all relevant policies, procedures and protocols
  • Establish and maintain a current, accurate, confidential report of households under his/her care
  • Identify most vulnerable households requiring urgent attention
  • Discuss any major concerns with the project coordinators
Requirements
  • Min Qualification: OND/NCE
  • Experience: 2 years
  • Applicants must be resident in Lagos.
Skills:
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work under pressure with little supervision
  • Must be passionate about working with children and adolescents
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and ability to work in partnership with government and other NGO's staff.
