Channels Television is one of the 13 independent television stations currently broadcasting in Nigeria, since the Federal Government deregulated the broadcast media in 1992.
The station has bagged the ‘Best Television station of the Year’ an award endowed by the Nigerian Media Merit Award Trust – eight times in the last thirteen years (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2011 & 2012), thereby making Channels Television “the Station of the decade”.

Channels TV is recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: News Editor
Location: Channels TV, Benin Station
Position Type: Full Time
Requirements:

  • Planning for stories for the week, supervision of various desks in the news room
  • Dispatching reporters for assignments
  • Checking scripts for typographical, spelling, semantic and synthetic errors, reporting and editing
  • and producing news bulletins.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
  • Must have a University Degree (B.A. BSc.) preferably in Mass Communication or qualification in an associated field.
  • Post Graduate Degree is an added advantage.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years work experience in this field.
  • Must be experienced in television broadcast.
  • Must have a perfect understanding of how the News Department runs.
  • Strong professional ability, dexterity and agility.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Must be able to work any scheduled time, including nights, weekends and holidays to support the 24×7 on-air broadcasts.
  • Eligible candidates applying for this position must be residents of Benin, Edo State Nigeria or able to live and work from location for a minimum fixed term of one year or more.
Job Title: ENG Editors (Electronic News Gathering)
Location:

Requirements:
  • Familiarity with all aspects of electronic news gathering/production/editing
  • Will be responsible for all sound and lighting work including live remotes and handling microphones, boom, wireless plus portable mixers.
  • Must be familiar with editing and feeding Studio Camera and control room audio
  • Will operate video recording equipment
  • Familiarity with live broadcast production including studio camera, control room, audio, and remote production working with satellite and microwave vehicles.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of field video, audio and lighting
  • Must have experience as a Motion Graphics Editor
  • Must be able to use Video Editing Suites, Final Cut Pro (FCP), Adobe Suites (Premier, Aftereffects, etc.)
  • Some 3D knowledge is a plus (3D Max, Cinema 4D, etc.)
  • Must have experience with Newtek Tricaster, live production equipment and streaming and encoding solutions
  • Experience with Newtek Tricaster, live production equipment and streaming and encoding solutions is preferred.
  • Technical support/training certifications from Avid and/or Apple would be a plus.
Qualifications/Skills:

 Job Title: VTR and Vision Mixing Operator, Master Control Room (MCR)

Position Type: Full Time
Requirements:
  • The Master Control Operator will be responsible for performing all on-air operations to include recording, downloading, uploading and editing of all on-air programming and commercial material in a live news programme.
  • Operate all control room equipment associated with a typical live news programme .
  • Monitor and maintain the quality, continuity and availability of multiple networks and distribution channels in a live and non-live environment.
  • Monitors video/audio quality and signal availability using waveform monitors, meters and other test and monitoring equipment
  • Prepare and maintain sports, news programmes and associated database for air
  • Capture and encoding of content related to on-air schedules.
  • Assists media operations group in the recording and storage of content feeds
  • Manages deployment and retrieval of playlists and as-run files, and monitors commercial insertion system
  • Integrates live and previously recorded program content with commercial and promotional spots
  • Maintains program and break continuity
  • Operate on-air branding and news.
Qualifications/Skills Required:

Job Title: Audio Mixer/Sound Engineer, Master Control Room (MCR)

Requirements:
  • Must be proficient with different types of recording media, such as analog tape, digital multi-track recorders and workstations, and computer knowledge.
  • Ability to operate sound equipment needed for recording, mixing or other audio.
  • Ability to add in sound effects, adjust the volume and maintain excellent sound quality throughout a broadcast.
  • Will be responsible for performing all on-air operations to include recording, downloading, uploading and editing of all on-air programming and commercial material in a live news programme.
  • Operate all control room equipment associated with a typical live news programme.

Job Title: Cameraman

Requirements:
  • Operate and control Camera and Camera equipment in the Studio and all Camera Equipment.
  • Operating and control the Camera and on the field or outside broadcasts, for recorded and live television broadcasts and recordings.
  • Assembling and setting up equipment.
  • Do Audio Visual checks.
  • Cover daily assignments with the Reporters and gather news stories.
  • Cover live events, news and the Station’s Programmes
  • Must know the techniques of television production and be conversant with the various camera shots.
  • Liaising with lighting and technical staff and applying standard lighting pattern to propel the audio.
  • Creatively framing, composing and capturing action and ensuring all shots are properly taken.
  • Interpretation of scripts during production.
  • Responding quickly to directions.
