Ikeja Electricity Distribution Plc, Nigeria's largest power distribution network, came into existence on November 1st, 2013 following the handover of the defunct Power Holding Company Of Nigeria (PHCN) to NEDC/ KEPCO Consortium under the privatization scheme of the Federal Government.


The consortium has the Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) which generates about 84,000MW in capacity and has a global efficiency record of a maximum down time period of slightly above three minutes annually as technical partners.

Ikeja Electricity Distribution Plc is recruiting to fill the position of:


Job Title: Electrical Fitter

Location:
Lagos
Reporting To: Supervisor - Operations & Maintenance Technical Services (Head Office, Undertaking & Business Unit)

Role Purpose

  • Provide inputs for preparing preventive as well as planned maintenance schedule/ plans for distribution network.
Role Accountabilities
  • Installation and erection of gantries in the injection substations.
  • Installation of panels (Switchgears) both of 33kv and 11kv.
  • Installation of new and replacement of CT's and VT's.
  • Maintenance and servicing of 33kv and 11kv breakers
  • Servicing / maintenance of power transformers.
  • Coupling of power transformers
  • Replacement of faulty outdoor 33kv breakers and bushing.
  • Replacement of faulty lighting arrestors and installation of new ones.
  • Carrying out of provision of new earthing system and improvement of old ones in the Substations.
  • Fabrication and adaptation of equipment where necessary.
  • Carrying out of filtrations of power transformers
  • Stoppage of oil leakage in power transformer.
  • General maintenance of associated electrical equipments.
  • Implement operation & maintenance procedures in accordance with established company Policies.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the company’s standards, policies and procedures
  • Adhere to HSE policy and issued safety instructions in performing assigned task.
  • Perform any other duty as requested by the Head Department, Team Leader and Team Member of the department. 
Minimum Requirements
  • Holders of OND/S.S.C.E/ G.C.E/ N.E.C.O/NABTEB or Equivalent with credit passes in five science subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Job Title: Distribution Linesman - Mate
Location:
Lagos
Reporting to: Supervisor - Operations & Maintenance Technical Services (Undertaking & Business Unit)
Role Purpose

  • The Role of the Distribution Linesman-Mate is to provide support to the linesmen in performing preventive as well as assisting in planned maintenance schedule/activities on the distribution network.
Role Accountabilities
  • Support experienced linesmen in performing operations and maintenance tasks within the network.
  • Assists linesman in clearing electrical faults.
  • Acts as custodian of line tools and materials at site, and ensuring clean and safe keeping after the day’s work.
  • Participates in performing line patrol and periodic maintenance of the right-of-way of new construction or existing lines, where necessary.
  • Participates in relocating, rebuilding, and adding poles on existing lines where necessary.
  • Provide assistance to the linesmen during replacement and repair of service drops, as directed.
  • Carries out all work in accordance with the company’s standards, policies and procedures
  • Adhere to HSEQ policy and issued safety instructions in performing assigned task.
  • Perform any other duty as requested by the Linesman/ Supervisor
Minimum Requirements
  • Holders of S.S. C.E G.C.E N.E.C.ONABTEB or Equivalent with credit passes in five science subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Job Title: Cable Jointer
Location:
Lagos
Reporting To: Supervisor - Operations & Maintenance Technical Services (Head Office, Undertaking & Business Unit)
Role Purpose

  • Provide inputs for preparing preventive as well as planned maintenance schedule/ plans for distribution network.
Role Accountabilities
  • Ability to carry out jointing and termination of power cables both in 33kv and 11kv.
  • Ability to carry out work on faulty cables in switchgear incomer and outgoing of both 33kv and 11kv.
  • Ability to work on underground cables like:
Straight through joint (b) Transition joint (c) Trifurcating joint (d) Tee joint
  • Participate in laying of power cable in cable trench within the substations and  also feeder's route
  • Carrying out of breakdown maintenance on termination of indoor and outdoor 33kv/11kv on:
Inter connector power cable (b) Up riser cable within the switchyards
  • Ability to carry out breakdown maintenance on skipper panel power cable and working on the box like:
Re termination of the power cables (b)De carbonization of VT's , CT's and cable's by using of electro clean (c) De moisturizing of the VT's, Cable's and CT's by preheating:
  • Installation of AMI VT's panel power cables to 11kv incomer breakers.
  • Making of connex 33kv termination for GIS switchgear at
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the company’s standards, policies and procedures
  • Adhere to HSE policy and issued safety instructions in performing assigned task.
  • Perform any other duty as requested by the Head Department, Team Leader and Team Member of the department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Holders of ONDS.S. C.E G.C.E N.E.C.ONABTEB or Equivalent with credit passes in five science subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Job Title: Energy Sales Representative (ESR)
Location: Lagos
Reporting to: Energy Sales Supervisor (ESS)
Role Purpose

  • The role requires the jobholder to perform sales and marketing of electricity, management of allocation of energy and driving collections of energy billed to the customer.
  • The role also entails ability to manage customer relationship relating to meter reading and bill distribution.
Role Accountabilities
  • Conducting advance metering activities (energy aggregation, energy analysis, energy loss analysis, bill determinants and dynamic tariffs etc.)
  • Performing remote monitoring of meter behavior using human machine interfaces (HMI)
  • Performing remote energy usage tracking
  • Customer meter reading and capturing meter status/remark.
  • Providing customer meter reading books/cycle and updating reading sequence.
  • Performing manual data entry for customer meter reading and meter reading status on a daily basis.
  • Managing meter reading instrument availability for meter reading activities.
  • Preparing daily reading upload batch files.
  • Prepare exception reports.
  • Bill distribution to customers.
  • Meter reading and bill distribution reporting.
  • Performing on site activities/supervision/site visit with regards to installed meters.
  • Monitoring of  prepaid meters
  • Special customer meters re-reading/site visit.
  • New customer capture and periodic customer tariff reclassification
  • Coordinating with other departmental officers to attend to customer complaints related to meter reading activities.
  • Managing all customers complaints related to meter reading within areas of jurisdiction.
  • Customer accounts maintenance to avoid buildup of unrealistic debts(vacant premises, etc).
Minimum Requirements
  • First Degree (B.Sc or H.N.D) in Marketing, Social Sciences or any relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years field experience in sales and marketing
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of the power industry
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, Outlook).
