Management Trainee recruitment at Fortis Microfinance Bank Plc

Fortis Microfinance Bank Plc. is a leading Nigerian financial
institution licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 2007 and
listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as the first private sector led
Microfinance Bank in 2012. 


FORTIS in partnership with the German AFOS Foundation, and the German
Catholic Entrepreneurs Association (BKU) is implementing a project
co-financed by the German Government to strengthen FORTIS’s capacity to
promote qualitative growth and efficiently manage the quality of its
services. Focus is on ensuring efficient management of resources,
personnel development as well as improving FORTIS’s capacity to provide
further training to other microfinance institutions.


Fortis Microfinance Bank Plc. seeks to recruit trainees in the following areas of FORTIS’s operations for the following management trainee positions:

Job Title:  Finance (Ref: FORTISF01)
Job Description

  •  Supervise and coordinate the activities of regional and branch accountants
  •  Support the Chief Finance Officer in developing a robust financial strategy for the bank
  •  Supervise the preparation of the bank’s annual budget

Job Title:  Human Resources Management/ Management Development (Ref: FORTISHR02)

Job Description

  •  Plan, direct, and coordinate human resource management activities of
    FORTIS to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain
    functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel
    policies, and regulatory compliance.
  •  To identify all training needs of the bank and compile a list of all training programs for management decision
  •  To develop and manage a sustainable management development scheme for FORTIS

Job Title: Operations/coordination (Ref: FORTISO03)

Job Description

  •  Develop and manage the implementation of marketing strategies, plans
    and projects for new and existing products to meet customer needs
  •  Ensure the creation of new businesses and customers for the company’s products and services
  •  Oversee the maintenance of viable relationship with existing customers
    to satisfy their needs and keeps them delighted, retained and committed

Job Title:  Strategy and product Development (Ref: FORTISSP04)

Job Description

  •  Supervise and coordinate the activities of regional and branch accountants

Job Title:  Risk Management (Ref: FORTISR05) 

Job Description

  •  Book authorized credits on the system.
  •  Identify and track all conditions attached to each facility
  •  Visitation of customers’ project or security pledges to determine whether the security or project is still viable.
  •  Supervision/Advise the Relationship manager to ensure that documentations are properly filled (Business supports).
  •  Ensure that customers do not deviate from approved terms and conditions.

Job Title: Communication Officer (Ref: FORTISC06)

Job Description

  •  Work collaboratively with a diverse staff team to create and manage cross-organizational, integrated marketing strategies.
  •  Coordinate communications projects with clients and contractors for
    the development and production of educational event, promotional
    materials, web site production and other collateral.
  •  Provide writing and editing support for all outbound communication
    including all promotional materials, website content, a quarterly
    newsletter and the Bank’s annual report.

Job Title: Auditor (Ref: FORTISA07)

Job Description

  •  To ensure compliance to the bank’s accounting system and internal control policies, in order to protect the bank’s asset
  •  Assist the head, Internal Audit and Control in the design, revision or update appropriate internal control, audit & compliance strategy and framework for the bank
  •  Handle specific audit assignments at the Head Office or Region, as directed by Head Internal Audit and Control
  •  Facilitate the audit itinerary of the Regional Auditor

General Requirements

  •  The ideal candidate must possess a B.Sc degree
  •  Candidates are required to be between the ages 25 to 30 years old as at the date of application
  •  Maximum of 3 years work experience, fresh graduate are also eligible
  •  Ability to use IT tools such MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
