JOB TITLE: Policy & Advocacy Manager ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Policy& Advocacy Manager will lead ONE Nigeria’s policy and advocacy work, and will be responsible for providing policy analysis and leadership on a number of our key policy issues, including development financing, global health, agriculture, nutrition as well as transparency and accountability. The Policy& Advocacy Manager will also keep abreast of, review, analyse, and advise on Nigeria - political and technical discussions related to development, aid and innovative finance. S/he will work closely with international policy colleagues, the Africa and Global Policy Directors, helping identify innovative and forward thinking trends and issues coming from Nigeria regarding development and aid, leveraging Nigeria efforts and leadership with a view to maximize Africa and global development policy impact, and advocating for Nigeria to embrace global best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong research and analytical skills and will be a great team player and self-starter with excellent project management and communications skills.y. Demonstrable analytical experience and policy advisory work on Nigeria, Africa, Nigeria and Global public policy issues relevant to ONE’s mission.. This position reports directly to the Nigeria Director and will be based in our Abuja office. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Lead ONE’s policy and advocacy including coordinating Nigeria-based efforts, developing strategy, identifying policy objectives and key advocacy and lobbying opportunities
  • Lead the design and development of policy products to inform advocacy and campaign strategies in Nigeria.
  • Provide policy analysis and writing on key Nigeria development policy issues, and provide Nigeria perspectives to on-going global policy discussions, ensuring global positions are compatible with the Nigeria and Africa wide market
  • Ensure access for ONE to relevant high level meetings, gatherings, representing ONE at these meetings and deputising for senior staff as required
  • Provide wider policy leadership and support on other key priority areas for ONE as required
  • Work with ONE’s Nigeria and Africa, global policy, communications, advocacy and campaigns teams on priority issues and projects as necessary
  • Produce high quality research outputs and briefing to support ONE Nigeria’s advocacy and campaign activities and engagements.
  • Lead on all policy& advocacy work associated with Nigeria campaigns, including managing relationships with relevant external lobby and campaigning groups, preparing documents on specific development issues for a range of stakeholders, lobby targets and audiences and crafting articles for blog posts, briefing documents and talking points
  • Working closely with the Nigeria Director, the Global Policy Director and other relevant staff across the organisation, identify forward looking trends and issues within the development sector and develop strategies, projects and interventions around these as appropriate
  • Any other duties as required by the role
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
  • Master’s degree (or its equivalent) in a development-related field, with at least eight years of work experience
  • Significant policy analysis and policy advisory work in Nigeria.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; does not mind unstructured and sometimes unpredictable environments
  • Quick turnaround research skills-must have the ability to seek out key facts and statistics that help explain complicated policy topics to broad audience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with shifting priorities and occasional heavy workloads
  • Ability to work as part of a global team
  • Previous work experience in Africa desirable
  • Fluent English essential
  • Significant experience of working on development policy in an NGO, think tank or government agency
  • Experience working on issues of development, particularly in Africa with specific experience of working on issues pertaining to French development policies
  • Experience of developing and overseeing the implementation of strategy
  • A demonstrable understanding of the links between advocacy, policy-making, legislation, and implementation of programs
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex policy documents and translate these for a wider audience
  • Superb professionalism and diplomacy; ability to interact with high-level individuals internally and externally
  JOB TITLE:  Media Manager ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Media Manager will lead ONE’s high profile media outreach and campaigns across Nigeria and help us proactively engage and partner with the media to communicate Nigeria’s narrative and issues of development and progress across the continent. This role will work closely with staff in the Africa-wide and global communications teams to ensure ONE’s messaging across in Nigeria and the Africa continent is position in the most impactful way, through the use of appropriate and cutting edge traditional and social media avenues. This position reports to the Nigeria Country Director and is based in Abuja, Nigeria with frequent travel. The position will also have dotted line reporting to the Africa Senior Media Manager. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
  • Develop and consolidate media relationships with key media partners in Nigeria
  • Lead on ONE’s media activity in Nigeria devising and implementing proactive and reactive media strategies as required and localizing elements of the global communications strategy as required.
  • Contribute to the preparation of country specific briefings for ONE’s senior staff/high profile advocates in their interactions with leaders in government and civil society
  • Manage media agencies and develop regular media reports
  • As a member of the Africa and global communications team, contribute to the development of ONE’s media positions globally, to ensure that all ONE products contain highly credible African content
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage of development issues/Africa rising narrative across the continent and identify trends and opportunities for ONE to engage
  • Collaborate with the creative, campaigns and digital leads in the design and implementation of coherence communications and campaigns strategies
  • Identify and target key media outlets across the Nigeria (print, broadcast and online), developing and maintaining strategic working relationships.
  • Provide strategic and operational media support to ONE campaigns and projects
  • Write and pitch highly impactful and high level stories to print, broadcast and online media
  • Draft and sell in press releases; edit articles for publication, contributing to producing web content
  • Manage press conferences and requests for media interviews and creating media interview opportunities
  • Adequately prepare and brief ONE spokepersons for interviews including developing media talkers and briefs as appropriate

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communications, or related field
  • Five years’ post bachelors experience working in a sub-Saharan African country within the international development sector, within communications, media or advocacy role.
  • Proven track record in delivering effective media/communications/advocacy strategies
  • Experience of partnership building, with experience of influencing stakeholders and establishing and maintaining strong partnerships.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to ONE’s aims and a clear understanding of the links between policy, lobbying, campaigning and media work and of how policy change can be achieved through effective advocacy
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment across various times zones, with flexibility to respond to a fast-changing work environment with shifting deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to responding flexibly to opportunities and requests sometime with little notice
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment
  • A thorough understanding of the media market and requirements of different kinds of media i.e. print, TV, radio, and online
  • Good knowledge of civil society organizations, government agencies, private sector companies and international development agencies based in Nigeria or sub-Saharan Africa, with experience of working in partnership within some of these sectors.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills including the ability to synthesize complicated policy issues into digestible products and to deal with both elite and popular media and specialist and non-specialist audiences
  • A global outlook with a clear understanding of the mechanisms of Western and African markets and the relationships between these markets.
  • Fluent English essential. Familiarity with other languages of the AU desirable.
JOB TITLE:  Digital Campaigns Officer ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Digital Campaigns Officer will provide support to the management of ONE’s online and offline campaigns for ONE’s work in Nigeria and globally. The position would suit a self-starter with at least three years’ experience in campaigning and a track record of delivering in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, project management experience and a demonstrable commitment to ONE’s mission. They will have experience of both online and offline campaigning and of digital and social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter. This is a full-time position reporting to the Nigeria Director with dotted line to Senior Director, Global Digital and will be based in Abuja Nigeria. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
  • Develop, execute monitor and evaluate country level campaigns plans and activities working in collaboration with relevant Nigeria, African and global team members
  • Work with the Africa, marketing and campaigns teams to coordinate and draft campaigns messages and materials which encourage people to get involved and take action, grow membership, and improve engagement
  • Support the day to day management of the ONE Champions program in Nigeria working under the direction of the Campaigns Coordinator, Africa
  • Support ONE prospective member recruitment via digital and mobile channels
  • Provide support to ONE Africa creative manager, ONE Africa campaigns Coordinator and ONE Africa digital coordinator in the e creation of relevant campaign messages and content
  • Work with the Africa digital coordinator and the global digital team to plan and analyze digital engagement and provide reports to the Nigeria and Africa teams
  • Support online and offline member and ONE champion engagement
  • Produce content for the ONE blog
  • Any other duties as appropriate to the role
