Save the Children Job for a Child Protection Information Management System Assistant

We are recruiting to fill the vacant position below:     Job Title: Child Protection Information Management System Assistant Location: Borno Job Purpose

  • Under the supervision of the Child Protection coordinator and with technical support from the CPIMS Officer and CP Advisor, the post-holder will ensure efficient and effective day to day collection of field data by case workers and inputting data into CP IMS.
  • The role of the CP IMS Assistant is to support the collection of child protection data and support quality data management at the field level.
  • S/he will enter case management field data collected by the child protection team (case workers), conduct spot checks to ensure quality and detailed data is provided and entered into the database, and oversee the day-to-day management of the inter-agency child protection information management system (IA CP IMS) according to the protocol.
  • S/he is accountable for the accomplishment of the stated key end-results by providing assistance in information/data collection, statistics and data analysis, and preparation of reports.
Key Accountabilities
  • Undertake the documentation (timely entry into the CPIMS) and data management for Unaccompanied, Separated, and Children at Risk (UASC) as per procedure and standards
  • Manage data, which includes security of the data and, follow-up with cases, and flagging errors
  • Ensure mandatory fields are correctly captured and staff are assisted and guided as required before cases are entered into the system.
  • Monitor quality of support and services provided as indicated in referral and follow up forms.
  • To oversee the day-to-day management of the inter-agency child protection database in Borno State including ensuring accurate and detailed data is sent to national level CPIMS in Abuja on a daily basis for synchronization with the national database.
  • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, security, and other relevant policies
  • Coaching the case management workers to strengthen the paper-based reporting system
  • Support timely case management services to UASC (e.g. family tracing and reunification, alternative care, psychosocial, protection, etc.)
  • Data cleaning regularly to ensure accuracy of data, Daily back-up and synchronization of data.
  • In close coordination with the CPiE team, process and produce of UASC information as needed and share with the team to enable better management and prioritization of cases.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, or any other analysis or data related to programme implementation, including programme's performance, relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability
  • Ensure the Child Protection Minimum Standard is adhered to on the CPIMS
  • Contribute to the availability and use of quality child protection information for evidence-based decision-making to improve the effectiveness.
  • Support the design and implementation of assessments, studies, and evaluations to ensure the effective monitoring, performance management, and learning needed for success
  • Conduct monitoring visits with case workers and CP Officers
  • Participate at the case management meetings with stakeholders and case workers
  • Attend IMS WG and CPSWG meetings at state level
  • Perform other duties as required by his/her supervisor
Requirements Education:
  • University degree in related field such as Social Sciences, Development Planning, Information Communication and Technology or Information Systems Management related qualification
Skills:
  • Analytical (Ability to generate and interpret data) skills;
  • Good writing and communication skills with ability to present ideas and concepts concisely in written and oral form;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and to meet tight deadlines.

  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of emergency situations
Experience:
  • A year of Professional work experience in information management systems.
  • Experience in Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE), including Case Management OR children related IMS will be an added advantage
  • At least one instance of exposure to emergency programming, including preparedness planning.
  • Active involvement in a humanitarian crisis response programme preferred.
Languages:
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Knowledge of local languages relevant to the duty station is an asset.
Dealing with problems/risks in the position
  • Mange inconsistency of information such as age discrepancy, gender, and other profiles of the child
  • Quality of the data produced by the case workers is screened
  • Willingness to work extra hours in case bulk data are available and under stressful situation
