Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Duties / Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and legal documents pertaining to the company's operations.
  • Providing legal advice for all company operations and joint venture businesses, ensuring compliance with corporate legal policies, local and international laws, statutory requirements, and partner agreements.
  • Reviewing, drafting, project-managing, and negotiating a wide range of legal and commercial agreements with various stakeholders.
  • Providing comprehensive legal advice on proposed policies, decisions, and actions; contracting, litigation, leases, procurement, employment, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property matters, and other issues as they arise.
  • Liaising with relevant regulatory authorities, joint venture partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring, alerting, and advising on identified and potential risks and threats in the company's regulatory environment, focusing on contract issues and local content compliance.
  • Monitoring the execution and rendition of returns on all regulatory compliance status from relevant business units.
  • Interfacing and monitoring external consultants and solicitors for the effective delivery of legal jobs and assignments.

Requirements

  • LLB from a reputable university; possession of a higher degree is advantageous.
  • Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association or any other relevant professional body is essential.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Nigeria's legal and regulatory framework for E&P businesses is essential.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years' post-call experience in commercial legal practice, with an emphasis on logistics and supply chain.

Skills Required:

  • Good knowledge and solid background in corporate and commercial laws and company secretariat practice.
  • Understanding of the basic process of contracts negotiation, verification, execution, administration, and perfection.
  • Strong flair for rigorous academic research and meticulous analysis of business, financial, and commercial issues or implications.
  • Acceptable knowledge of commercial, financial, banking, taxation, labor, property, and conveyance laws, etc.
  • Good knowledge of documentation and information management and reporting.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Significant working experience in Nigeria.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • People management skills and excellent relationship management skills.

Salary
N400,000 - N1,000,000 Monthly.
