Pentecostal Pastor Jailed For Swindling Job Seekers

A  High Court sitting in Lafia , Nasarawa state has sentenced an Abuja based pentecostal church Pastor, Mr. Bitrus Bakkat, to  21-year imprisonment for swindling some job  applicants for N205,000.

Following the report filed against the fake pastor by  Mr. Ugwueze Obinna and Mr. Philip Adejoh., the convict was   arraigned before the court on a three-count charge of fraudulent acts by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

Justice S. Aboki, who made a final pronouncement on the case, sentenced the fake pastor to 21 years jail term without an option of fine, also asked the pastor to pay back the  money extorted  from the job seekers.

It was revealed that the fake pastor collected the total sum of N205, 000.00 from Mr. Philip and Obinna May last year that he was going to secure a job for their relations at the Nigeria Security and  Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Trouble started when the man could not deliver on his promise and could not return the money back to the applicants.

Even though, he had pleaded not guilty, he was convicted after been tried, and  sentenced to seven years imprisonment on each of the three counts.

This should be a big lesson to all of us. Beware of those who promise to give you jobs in exchange for money.
Even Pastors!
