African Reinsurance Corporation - Following a recommendation of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re) was established on 24 February 1976 in Yaounde, Cameroon. An international Agreement was signed by the Plenipotentiaries of 36 member States of the
Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the AfDB with the aim of reducing the outflow of foreign exchange from the continent by retaining a substantial proportion of the reinsurance premiums generated therein.

Job Tittle: Assistant Archivist In - Charge Of  Relations With the Central Departments And Regional Offices.
Location
: Lagos
Responsibility:

The Assistant Archivist in charge of relations with the Departments assists the Archivist/Records Manager in implementing transfer of archives and access to archives by Central Departments and the Regional Offices.

Be knowledgeable in :

  •  Records and document management;
  •  The principles and methods of electronic archiving;
  •  The principles of developing and implementing information collection, processing and dissemination procedures;
  • The principles of records management;  
  • Communication principles and skills;
  • The IT environment (operating system, office suite). Knowledge of application software specific to archiving would be an advantage.
Qualification:
The candidates shall:
  • Be holders of HND or a higher qualification in archiving, records management or library sciences;
  • Have at least three (03) years’ relevant experience in a private or public institution.
  • Experience in an international organisation, insurance, reinsurance or financial company would be an advantage. 
Be knowledgeable in :
  • Records and document management;
  • The principles and methods of electronic archiving;
  • Have an excellent knowledge of one of the working languages of Africa Re (French or English).
  • A good knowledge of the other language would be an advantage;
  • Applicant must be nationals of Africa Re member countries;
  • Applicants should be at most 35 years old.
  • The principles of developing and implementing information collection, processing and dissemination procedures;

Responsibility:

The Assistant Archivist in charge of processing and conservation of archives:
  • Assists the Archivist/Records Manager in undertaking material or repetitive tasks of processing documents and making them available (receiving, recording, circulating and filing documents; keeping records and data files)
  • Assist in maintaining an electronic record system and physical library for technical and other documents.
Qualification:
The candidates shall:
  • Be holders of HND or a higher qualification in archiving, records management or library sciences;
  • Have at least three (03) years’ relevant experience in a private or public institution. Experience in an international organisation, insurance, reinsurance or financial company would be an advantage. 
Be knowledgeable in :
  •  Records and document management;
  • The principles and methods of electronic archiving;
  • The principles of developing and implementing information collection, processing and dissemination procedures;

Job Tittle: Archivist - Record Manager
Location:Lagos

 Responsibilities:
The grade level of this position is PS (Professional) in the organisation chart of the Corporation.
The Archivist-Records Manager reports to the Corporation Secretary and has the following duties and responsibilities:
  •  Establish, assess and control the documents circulation system;
  •  Implement records management tools (active and intermediate archives classification scheme, listing system
  • Relations and communication with transferring /originating departments;
  • Implement the Corporation’s records classification scheme; 
  • Identify and develop archiving tools;
  •  Implement the Corporation’s retention policy;
  •  Manage archive documents as well as in -house reports and publications;
  • Put in place a document storage system and its electronic management; etc.
  • Establish records management buffer units in the Corporation’s departments;
  •  Manage intermediate archives;
  • Logistic aspects;
  • Scientific evaluation, selection of documents;
  • Reconstitute the production context of documents;
  • Develop and implement the process of physical disposal of documents;
Main competencies required:
  • At least five (05) years’ experience in a public or private institution.
  • Experience in an international, insurance, reinsurance or financial company would be an advantage;
 A command of:
  • Records and documents management;
  • Principles and methods of electronic archiving;
  • Principles of developing and implementing information collection, processing and dissemination procedures;
  • Records management principles ;
  • An excellent knowledge of one of the working languages of Africa Re (French or English). A good knowledge of the other language would be an advantage;
  •  Abide by the obligations of discretion and confidentiality ;
  • Ability to analyse and synthesize;
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate a sense of initiative
  • Mastery of social law.
  • Mastery of industrial safety techniques.
  •  Communication principles and skills;
  • Rules of construction and organisation of an archives building;
  • conservation and transfer techniques of documents storage mediums (digital, analogue, audio-visual…)
  • Information technology environment (operating system, office suite, application software specific to archiving: EDM, EAS, management of physical archiving).
  •  Have a sound general knowledge;
Furthermore, the following qualities would be an advantage:
  • Professionalism
  • Integrity
  • Duty consciousness
  • Discretion techniques.
Qualification:
  • A first university degree plus a Masters in the relevant domain (or its equivalent) plus 11 years post Masters relevant work experience; or;
  • A first degree in the relevant domain plus professional experience (or its equivalent) plus 11 years post-qualification relevant work experience; or
  • A first degree in the relevant domain (or its equivalent) plus 14 years post-qualification relevant work experience;
  • A university degree in archiving, records management or library sciences would be an advantage.
  • The candidate should be at least 32 years and at most 50 years when submitting the application.
  • The candidates, must be nationals of a member country of Africa Re.

The successful candidate shall have the following benefits:
  •  Competitive basic salary;
  •  Exemption from taxes and duties (diplomatic status of an international civil servant);
  •  75% medical cover for staff and family;
  •  Education allowance for each child up to 26 years (maximum 4 children);
  •  Duty Post Differential that may increase or decrease depending on the economic situation (presently 20% of basic salary in Lagos, paid in local currency);
  •  Home leave to country of origin every two years paid by the employer;
  • Joint contribution to the Provident Fund (7% of the basic salary paid by staff and 14% by the employer).
