University of Lagos - Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos has, for over 5 decades, provided qualitative and research-oriented education to Nigerians and all those who have entered its domain in search of knowledge. At its inception, the University of Lagos was empowered to produce a professional workforce that would steer the political, social and economic development of a newly independent country. 

The University began with three faculties: Commerce and Business Administration, Law and Medicine. The faculties of Arts, Education, Engineering and Science were added in 1964.

The University currently has a School of Postgraduate Studies, a Distance Learning Institute (DLI) and twelve faculties.

QUALIFICATION


FACULTY OF ENGINEERING

a. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

(i) Professor

  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D Degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • He/She must be a COREN registered engineer.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment. 
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Highway and Transportation Engineering, Foundation and Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering.
(ii) Associate Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.

  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidate must be COREN registered Engineers.

(iv) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally have a good first degree and Ph.D degree in the cognate area with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidate must be a COREN registered engineer.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Highway and Transportation Engineering, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, Foundation and Geotechnical Engineering.
(v) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally have a good first degree and a Masters degree in the respective field from recognized university and must be COREN registered.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in a reputable journal will be an added advantage.
  • Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D programme.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Highway and Transportation Engineering, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, Foundation and Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering.
b. Department of Mechanical Engineering
(i) Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
  • Candidate must be a COREN registered engineer and have the ability to provide academic leadership.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Applied Mechanics, Thermo-Fluids, Renewable Energy, Design and Production.
(ii) Associate Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidate must be a COREN registered Engineer.

(iii) Senior Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University, with a minimum of five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidate must be a COREN registered Engineer.

(iv) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University, with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
  • He/She must be a COREN registered engineer.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.

(v) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals will be an added advantage.
  • Candidate must be a registered Engineer with COREN.
  • He/She must have registered for the Ph.D.

(vi) Assistant Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post must normally possess a good first degree and an M.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University. Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D. programme.

c. Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
(i) Professor

  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good honours degree from a recognized University in any of Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Computer or Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D degree in any of the following areas:
(a) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
(b) Ceramic Engineering
(c) Polymer Science or Technology
(d) Materials Science or Technology
  • Candidate must have at least 10 years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in 27 reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
  • He/She must be a COREN registered engineer. 
(ii) Associate Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good honours degree from a recognized University in any of Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer or Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D degree in any of the following areas:
(a) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
(b) Ceramic Engineering
(c) Polymer Science or Technology
(d) Materials Science or Technology
  • Candidate must have at least 8 years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years
  • Candidate must be a COREN registered Engineer.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
(iii) Senior Lecturer
  • Candidate should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in the respective field from a recognized University with at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidate should also possess specialist teaching and research interests in at least one of the following areas:
(a) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
(b) Ceramic Engineering
(c) Polymer Science or Technology
(d) Materials Science or Technology
  • Candidate must be a Registered Engineer with COREN.
(iv) Lecturer I
  • Candidate should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in the respective field from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidates must also have teaching and research competence in any of the following areas:
(a) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
(b) Ceramic Engineering
(c) Polymer Science or Technology
(d) Materials Science or Technology
  • Considerable number of publications in reputable journal is also required.
  • Candidate must be a Registered Engineer with COREN.
(v) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in the respective field from a recognized University; must be a COREN registered engineer and a member of the Society of Engineers.
  • The candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D programme.
  • He or she must have teaching and research competence in any of the following areas:
(a) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
(b) Ceramic Engineering
(c) Polymer Science or Technology
(d) Materials Science or Technology
(e) Corrosion Engineering
(f) Foundry Technology.
  • Evidence of scholarly publication in reputable journals will be an added advantage.
d. Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics
(i) Professor

  • Candidate should normally possess a good first degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geomatics Engineering, Photogrammetry, Cartography and Remote Sensing from a recognized university. In addition, candidate must have not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years. He/She must have ability to provider academic leadership.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment. Registration by SURCON as professional surveyor is a requirement. 
Area of Specialization:
  • Remote Sensing or GIS
(ii) Associate Professor
  • Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geomatics Engineering, Photogrammetry, Cartography and Remote Sensing plus Ph.D. in Surveying and Geoinformatics or Geomatics Engineering from recognized universities.
  • In addition, candidate should have not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years. Registration by SURCON as professional surveyor is a requirement.
Area of Specialization:
  • Hydrography or GIS.
(iii) Senior Lecturer
  • Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geomatics Engineering, Photogrammetry, Cartography and Remote Sensing plus Ph.D in Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering from recognized  universities. In addition, candidate should have not less than five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years and must be registered by SURCON as professional surveyor.
Area of Specialization:
  • Remote Sensing or GIS or Hydrography.
(iv) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in Surveying and  Geoinformatics, Geomatics Engineering, Photogrammetry, Cartography and Remote Sensing plus Ph.D. in the same areas.
  • Candidate must have at least four (4) years ofteaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence. 
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must  have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
  • SURCON registration is required.
Areas of Specialization:
  • Surveying and Geoinformatics.
(v) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geomatics Engineering, Photogrammetry, Cartography and Remote Sensing plus M.Sc. in the same area. SURCON registration is required.
  • Candidate must have registered for the Ph.D. programme. Evidence of scholarly publications will be an added advantage.
(vi) Assistant Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in the Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geomatics Engineering, Photogrammetry, Cartography and Remote Sensing plus M.Sc. in the same areas. Surveying and Geoinformatics.
  • Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D. programme.
Areas of specialization:
  • Education Physics, Education Biology, Education Chemistry, Education Mathematics, Education Integrated Science and Technology Education.

  • Professor - CONUASS 7 (N2,485,099.00 - N3,209,140.00) per annum
  • Associate Professor - CONUASS 6 (N2,053,124.00 - N2,684,096.00) per annum
  • Senior Lecturer - CONUASS 5 (N1,653,415.00 - N2,348,299.00) per annum
  • Lecturer I - CONUASS 4 (N1,122,751.00 - N1,444,535.00) per annum
  • Lecturer II - CONUASS 3 (N897,501.00 - N1,074,314.00) per annum
