University of Lagos - Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos has, for over 5 decades, provided qualitative and research-oriented education to Nigerians and all those who have entered its domain in search of knowledge. At its inception, the University of Lagos was empowered to produce a professional workforce that would steer the political, social and economic development of a newly independent country. 

The University began with three faculties: Commerce and Business Administration, Law and Medicine.  The faculties of Arts, Education, Engineering and Science were added in 1964.

The University currently has a School of Postgraduate Studies, a Distance Learning Institute (DLI) and twelve faculties.

QUALIFICATION


FACULTY OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

a. Department of Accounting

(i) Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in Accounting with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
  • Membership of a recognised Professional Accounting body will be an added advantage.
Areas of Specialisation:
  • Management Accounting and Controls, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Taxation, Auditing and Investigation , Public Sector Accounting and Governance, Forensic Accounting.
(ii) Associate Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in Accounting from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years.

iii) Senior Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in Accounting from a recognized University, with at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.

(iv) Lecturer I

  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in Accounting from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.

(vi) Assistant Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and master degree in Accounting from a recognized University. Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D. programme.
  • Membership of a recognized Professional Accounting body will be an advantage.
b. Department of Actuarial Science and Insurance

Actuarial Science Unit
(i) Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Actuarial Science and or related areas: Actuarial and Risk Modeling, Valuation, Pensions, Life and Health Insurance, Enterprise Risk Management and Actuarial Statistic and Mortality from a recognized University with at least ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or 15 comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise. 
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years. He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
(ii) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Actuarial Science or related areas from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
(iii) Assistant Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and M. Sc degree in Insurance or related areas from a recognized University.
  • Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D. programme.
  • Membership of a recognized Professional Actuarial Science body will be an advantage.
Insurance Unit
(i) Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Insurance or Risk Management from a recognized University with at least ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institute of higher learning in the following areas: Underwriting, Rating, Risk Management, Risk Finance , Insurance Agency System, Property and Casualty, Personal Line Business and Marketing of Insurance Services.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and in ternationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
  • He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
(ii) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in insurance and a doctorate degree in insurance, Risk Management or related areas from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate 16 students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
(iii) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree in insurance and a doctorate degree in insurance, Risk Management or related areas from a recognized University.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in the field of Insurance or Risk Management will be an added advantage.
(iv) Assistant Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and M.Sc. degree in Insurance or related areas from a recognized University. Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D. programme.
c. Department of Business Administration

(i) Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Business Administration or in relevant disciplines but cognate with management(such as Supply, Logistic, International Business, Change Management) Marketing: (Marketing Control, Sales Management, Distribution and Logistics, Operations Management, Operation Research, Supplying and Logistic,  International Management, Business Management) from a recognized university with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of  continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
  • He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
(ii) Associate Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Business Administration or in relevant disciplines but cognate with management (such as supply, Logistic, International Business, Change Management) Marketing:(Marketing Control, Sales Management, Distribution and Logistics, Operations Management, Operation Research, Supplying and Logistic, International Management, Business Management) from a recognized university with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and  research experience since becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning and must have been a Senior Lecturer for three (3) years.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
(iii) Senior Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Business Administration or any relevant discipline cognate with management (General Management, Marketing, Organisation Behaviour, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management) from a recognized University with at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.
(iv) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration or any relevant discipline but cognate with management (General Management, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management) from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.

(v) Lecturer II
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Business Administration or any relevant discipline but cognate with management (General Management, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management) from a recognized University.
  • Candidates must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
  • Some scholarly publication in the relevant field of Business Administration in reputable learned journals will be an added advantage.
d. Department of Finance
(i) Professor
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Finance or Banking from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • A Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
  • He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership.
  • Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
Area of Specialisation:
  • Corporate Finance, International Finance, Banking, Investment Management, Financial Institutions.
(ii) Associate Professor
  • A candidate for this post must possess a good first degree and doctorate degree in Finance or Banking from a recognized University, with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.

(iii) Senior Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and doctorate degree in Finance or Banking from a recognized University, with at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.

(iv) Lecturer I

e. Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management

(i) Associate Professor

  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and doctorate degree in either Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Management or Law and specializing in any of the following areas: Labour Economics, Human Resource Management, Labour and Trade Unions, Industrial Sociology, Industrial Psychology and Labour Law from a recognized University.
  • Candidates must have teaching and research experience with not less than eight (8) years since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
  • Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three (3) years.
  • Candidate must also have suitable number of publications in the area of specialisation.
(ii) Senior Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and doctorate degree in Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Management or Law and specializing in any of the following areas: Labour Economics, Human Resources Management, Labour and Trade Unions, Industrial Sociology, Industrial Psychology and Labour Law from a recognized University.
  • Candidates must have at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
  • Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise. Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years. Candidate must have suitable number of publications in the area of research.
(iii) Lecturer I
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and doctorate in Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Management or Law and specializing in any of the following areas: Labour Economics, Human Resources Management, Labour and Trade Unionism, Industrial Sociology and Industrial Psychology and Labour Law from a recognized University.
  • Candidates must have at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience in a University or comparable institution of higher learning since becoming a Lecturer II.
  • Candidates must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals with suitable number of publications in the area of specialisation.
(iv) Assistant Lecturer
  • A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Masters degree in Industrial Relations, Economics, Sociology, Management or Law from a recognized University. Candidate must also have registered for the Ph.D. programme.

  • Professor - CONUASS 7 (N2,485,099.00 - N3,209,140.00) per annum
