Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is a comprehensive public institution established in 1962 as The University of Ife. The University is situated on a vast expanse of land totaling 11,861 hectares in Ile-Ife, Osun State, southwest of Nigeria.
Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.


A. SENIOR NON-TEACHING POSITION

1. Directorate of Physical Planning and Development Unit
(a) Senior Technical Officer (Building) - CONTISS 08 (N1,258,653 - N1,866,314)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the position of Senior Technical Officer (Building) should possess HND in Building Technology plus 6 years post qualification experience.

(b) Senior Technical Officer (Survey) - CONTISS 08 (N1,258,653 - N1,866,314)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the position of Senior Technical Officer (Survey) should possess HND in Land Surveying or Surveying Geo-informatics plus 6 years post qualification experience.

2. Department of Community Health

Positions: Staff Nurse I/Staff Midwife I - CONTISS 07 (N579,391.00 - N 857,305.00)

Requirement
Candidate must possess NRN plus NRM with Community Health Officer’s (CHO) training and must be duly registered with the Nursing and Midwife Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

3. Department of Agriculture and Environmental Engineering

Position: Higher Technical Officer (Soil and Water Engineering Option) - CONTISS 07 (N1,084,016 - N1,600, 307)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the post of Higher Technical Officer (Soil and Water Engineering Option) must possess Higher National Diploma in Agricultural Engineering with specialization in Soil and Water Engineering and at least three years of post qualification experience.

4. Drug Research and Production Unit Position

Positions

• Medical Laboratory Technologist I - CONTISS 08 (N1,258,653 N1,866,314)
• Senior Pharmacist - CONTISS 09 (N1,460,163 N2, 120,426)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the position of Medical Laboratory Technologist 1 should possess AMLCN or B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science with 2-4 years working experience. He must be registered with the MLSCN.

Candidates applying for the post of Senior Pharmacist should possess degree in Pharmacy from a recognized University and be registered with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria with a minimum of 4 6 years of cognate experience; the last year must have been spent in the Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The candidate must also hold a current professional license to practice. Additional qualifications in Pharmaceutical Technology or Pharmaceutical analysis will also be required.

5. Department of Medical Biochemistry

Position: Technologist II - CONTISS 07 (N1,084,016 – N1,600, 307)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the position of Laboratory Technologist II should possess Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry/Biochemistry option) obtained from a reputable Institution with at least two (2) years’ experience in a University Laboratory setting. Membership of Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory (NISLT) is required.

B. ACADEMIC POSITIONS

1. Faculty of Technology

(a) Department of Civil Engineering

Position: Lecturer I/II - CONUASS 413

Area of Specialization
Civil Engineering (Geotechnical or Structural Engineering option)

Requirement
Candidates for the position of Lecturer I must possess B.Sc. (Second Class Upper Division), MSc. and PhD in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical or Structural Engineering option) or related/equivalent discipline with not less than two (2) years teaching experience at University level, Candidate must be a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). Evidence of research and publications in relevant peer reviewed reputable academic journals will be an added advantage.

Candidates for the position of Lecturer II, must possess B.Sc (Second Class Upper Division) and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical or Structural Engineering option) or related/equivalent discipline. Also, candidates must be registrable with Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). Evidence of research and publications in relevant peer reviewed reputable academic journals as well as evidence of registration for PhD programme (Geotechnical or Structural Engineering option) will be an added advantage.

(b) Department of Mechanical Engineering

Position: Graduate Assistant - CONNUASOI

Area of Specialization
Thermo Fluid Option

Requirement
The candidate for the position of a Graduate Assistant must possess a minimum of Second Class (Upper Division) degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable University. The candidate must be willing to register for postgraduate study in a reputable Nigerian University.

(c) Department of Food Science and Technology

Position: Assistant Lecturer/Lecturer II  - CONNUAS 02/03

Area of Specialization
Food Engineering

Requirement
Candidate applying for the position of Assistant Lecturer should possess B.Sc in Food Science & Technology or Food Engineering with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division), M.Sc. in Food Science & Technology/Food Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Agricultural Engineering. Teaching Experience in a University or a comparable Institution and Evidence of registration with a Professional Body (CORE N) will be an advantage.

Candidate applying for the position of Lecturer II should possess BSc in Food Science & Technology or Food Engineering with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division), M.Sc in Food Science & Technology/Food Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Agricultural Engineering and Ph.D. in Food Science & Technology Food Engineering/Chemical Engineering! Agricultural Engineering. Candidates who have only M.Sc can also apply provided they have registered for Ph.D and have a minimum of three published articles in reputable journals. Candidate should have teaching experience in a University or a comparable Institution. Evidence of registration with a Professional Body (COREN) is required.

(d) Department of Material Science and Engineering

Position: Lecturer I - CONNUASO4

Areas of Specialization
Materials Engineering

Requirement
Candidate applying for the position of a Lecturer I should possess a B.Sc. degree in Materials Engineering with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division), M.Sc. in Materials Engineering and Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering plus at least seven years of teaching and research experience, with a bias towards materials for clean energy application. Candidate must possess adequate number of technical publications in relevant and reputable international and local journals. COREN Registration and computer literacy is mandatory.

2. Faculty of Arts

Department of Music

Position:

• Senior Lecturer  - CONUASS 5
• Lecturer I/II  - CONUASS 4/3

Requirement
Candidates for the position of Senior Lecturer must possess good first and second degrees in Music as well as a PhD in Music from a recognized university in Nigeria. A candidate for this post must have been a Lecturer in any recognized university for at least five (5) years and must have at least ten (10) scholarly publications in reputable journals. At least two (2) of the publications must have been published outside Nigeria.

Candidates for the position of Lecturer I must possess good first and Second degrees in Music as well as a PhD in Music from a recognized university in Nigeria. A candidate for this position must have been a Lecturer in any recognized university for at least three (3) years and must have at least five (5) scholarly publications in reputable journals.

Candidates for the position of Lecturer II must possess good first and Second degrees in Music as well as a PhD in Music from a recognized university.

3. Faculty of Science
Department of Botany

Position: Graduate Assistant  - CONUASS 01

Areas of Specialization
Uryptogam (Lower Plants)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the position of Graduate Assistant should possess a good Bachelors degree in botany not below Second Class Honours (Lower Division) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or its equivalent from a reputably recognized institution. The area of specialization needed is Cryptogam (Lower Plants).

4. Faculty of Clinical Sciences

(a) Department of Medicine

Position: Lecturer I  - CONUASS 04

Areas of Specialization

• Internal Medicine (Endocrinology subspecialty
• Internal Medicine (Rheumatology & Immunology subspecialty)

Requirement
Candidates applying for the position of Lecturer I must possess MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent, from a reputable institution registrable with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). In addition candidate must possess postgraduate professional qualification registrable with MDCN, FMCP and/or FWACP in Endocrinology, or FMCP and/or FWACP in Rheumatology & Immunology. Publications in peer reviewed reputable journals would be an added advantage.

(b) Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care

Position: Lecturer I  - CONNUASS 04

Requirement
Candidate applying for the position of Lecturer I must possess Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.8) or its equivalent and Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in Anaesthesia or its equivalent; He/she must be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. Publications in peer- reviewed reputable journals will be an added advantage.

5. Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences

Department of Morbid Anatomy and Forensic Medicine

Position: Lecturer I CONNUASS 04

Requirements
Candidates applying for the position of Lecturer I must possess M.B.B.S., M.B.Ch.B or M.D. degree and a postgraduate fellowship of the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine of the West African College of Medicine (FWACP, Lab. Medicine) or Faculty of Pathology, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPath). Publications in peer reviewed reputable journals would be an added advantage.
6. Faculty of Environmental Design and Management

Position:

• Lecturer II/I  - CONNUASS 03/04
• Graduate Assistant/Assistant Lecturer - CONNUASS 01/02

Area of Specialization
Surveying/Surveying and Geoinformatics

Requirements
Candidate applying for the position of Lecturer I must possess first degree in Surveying/Surveying and Geoinformatics with Ph.D in the same or related/equivalent discipline with not less than three (3) years teaching experience at the University level. Also, candidates must be corporate members of the Nigerian lnstitution of Surveyors (NIS) and must be registered by Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON). Evidence of research and publications in relevant peer reviewed academic journals will be an added advantage.

Candidates applying for the position of Lecturer II must possess first degree in Surveying/Surveying and Geoinformatics and a PhD in the same or related/equivalent discipline. In addition, candidates’ qualifications must be registrable with NIS and SURCON. Candidates with M.Sc. (by research thesis) in Surveying and Geoinformatics who possess registration with SURCON may be considered. Such must have a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience at the University level. Evidence of research and publication in relevant peer reviewed academic journals will be an added advantage.

Candidate applying for the position of Assistant Lecturer must possess first degree in Surveying/Surveying and Geoinformatics with M.Sc (by research thesis) in the same or related/equivalent discipline. Candidates’ qualifications must be registrable for Ph.D programme in the University and with SURCON. Candidates with B.Sc degree in Surveying/Surveying and Geoinformatics with a minimum of second Class Upper Division may be considered but such must have registered with SURCON. Experience in teaching at University level will be an added advantage.

Candidates applying for the position of Graduate Assistant must possess a degree in Surveying/Surveying and Geoinformatics with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division from a recognized University. Evidence of completion of national Youth Service corps (NYSC) programme is mandatory.
