Job Title:  Head of Media Relations

 Job Description:
 

  • Have proven experience of working in a media and/or a political environment
  • Have a strong track record in traditional and new media, and an extensive network of press contacts
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, research and organisational skills
  • Be skilled in developing and executing comprehensive media strategies
  • Be able to quickly respond to the news agenda, altering tactics and exploiting new angles as required
  • Be confident in briefing stories into the media – print and broadcast
  • Experience managing all major social media platforms and specific evidence of increasing followers across Twitter and Facebook
  • Experience of SEO improvement
  • Strong content generation skills
  • Basic HTML and/or other programming skills
  • Experience of using social media management platforms such as Hootsuite and Hubspot
  • Experience of curating video content online
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and analytics tools such Asgooe analytics
  • Have a deep understanding of and enthusiasm for politics and business
  • Hold relevant media or politics degree
  • Be a friendly and enthusiastic team player
 
The Role:
  • Developing and executing comprehensive media strategies built around the organization and communications objectives
  • Forming and maintaining a high-level network of relationships with journalists
  • Advising on how best to present issues/campaign to national journalists
  • Taking the lead in translating demands into media projects and managing the allocation of tasks within the team to ensure excellent programme delivery
  • Identifying creative ways to develop momentum behind campaigns
  • Drafting and editing well-angled press releases that have strong hooks for the media
  • Providing wider media support to the organization – with a particular emphasis on social media engagement and SEO development
  • To ensure the quality of work produced by team members, that it adheres to organizational standards
  • To perform such other responsibilities as may be required from time to time in order to ensure the smooth running of the team, the senior management team, cross departmental teams, the department and the organisation as a whole
