Norwegian Refugee Council Vacancies for Field Officers


The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors. We are recruiting to fill the vacant position below: Job Title: Field Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement needs assessments and support beneficiary identification and selection
  • Supervise delivery of assistance to selected beneficiaries
  • Carry out monitoring activities as directed
  • Performs other duties as reasonably directed from time to time
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Monitor displacement trends and new coming displaced person’s arrivals, prepare weekly reports
  • Liaise with logistics and other support departments to ensure good cooperation and coordination at the field level
  • Represent NRC with partners and stakeholders in Dikwa, as instructed and guided, on a daily basis
  • Support the program staffs in achieving their work plan
  • Develop a work plan for all core competencies in coordination with the Program Managers/ Coordinators
  • Coordinate with Program Managers/ Coordinators to ensure activities are implemented in agreed time line and according to the Core Competency Strategy plan
  • Monitor market prices for basic commodities, compile reports
  • Ensure activities are integrated either with NRC or with other partners
  • Supervise post distribution monitoring data collection and analysis
Qualifications
  • Experience from working in humanitarian/recovery context in either Emergency, Shelter, WASH, Food Security or ICLA
  • Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
  • IT tools experience
  • Experience in conducting field level data collection
  • Experience in participating in distributions of humanitarian materials
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Some knowledge of English
  • Fluent in Hausa and Kanuri
Personal Qualification:
  • Ability to work in insecure environments
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision

We Offer
  • Commencement: As soon as possible
  • Contract period: 31st December, 2017 (With possibility of extension)
  • Contract Type: Full time (Working Days - 5 days per week)
