We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: SSHE Technician Location: Akwa Ibom Job Type: Contracts Category: Environmental, Health & Safety Job Nature: Rotation – 5 days on /5 days off Job Description

  • Work with company and contractor’s site management and Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) organizations to implement the project and site safety programs and advice on best practice.
  • SSHE Technicians provide support in one or more safety, security, health, or environmental subject areas to a particular site or functional group within an affiliate. A SSHE Technician supports data entry, management, and reporting skills while interacting with the field/operations organization and SSHE Advisors. SSHE Technicians will cover some but not all of the responsibilities listed below.
  • Typical Position titles may include: EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Specialist, EHS Technician, Offshore Installation (OI) Technician, Emissions Technician, Safety Technician, etc.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Promote safety awareness and safe performance among project team members, including consultants and contractor personnel
  • Conduct regular safety inspections/assessments on-site and at key off-site subcontractor locations in accordance with established project and site safety plans or as requested by site team members
  • Identify and work to eliminate hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts; work with company, contractor, and subcontractor management toward achieving an injury-free work place
  • Keep site management apprised of significant safety issues and plans/progress towards resolving issues and eliminating hazards
  • Communicate safety initiatives, achievements, experiences, and issues from other sites and projects with site team members and contractor/subcontractor safety advisors/management
  • Participate in investigation and follow-up of incidents/accidents; prepare notifications/reports for communication of significant incidents to company project/functional management per project incident reporting procedures and matrix
  • Coach and advise contractor/subcontractor safety professionals/management in incident investigation documentation, reporting, and follow-up, including root cause analysis and case management
  • Monitor work processes to ensure compliance with the site work permit system and area/system responsibilities
  • Prepare/provide a safety induction briefing to new team members and visitors to site
  • Collect and share safety company's lessons learned with other sites and project and functional management
  • Identify and assist with prioritization of opportunities for site safety process improvements
Job Requirements
  • High School or College level education or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in Construction Safety-related positions (previous experience within the group preferred)

  • Systems Completion (SC) Leads focus on the implementation of the systems completion process on executing projects, including development or review of the Systems Completion Database (System Completion Database (SCDB) ) as well as oversight of project team Systems Completion Clerks and the SCDB Administrator.
The role is characterized by:
  • In-depth knowledge of the Systems Completion Process (Mechanical Completion, Commissioning and Start-up planning/sequencing, walk down & punch list management, Turn-over and Handover process).
  • Collaboration with the Contractor to ensure requirements for systems completion (e.g., walk downs and reviews) are clearly understood and adhered to
  • Working knowledge of Systems Completion Database set-up and management
  • Ability to define project hierarchy to match completions plan
  • Strong understanding of Systems Completions process, project completions strategy, facility hierarchy, discipline construction and commissioning verification activities and sequence
  • Understanding of tagging system, and the allocation A & B check sheets to tags
  • Leadership to ensure project priorities of safety, quality, and schedule are achieved; includes a high level of assertiveness to ensure effective communication
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Be familiar with the Contract Scope of Work and all Systems Completion Project Design Specifications (PDSs) including specified discipline PDSs addressing installation and commissioning
  • Prepare or monitor preparation, planning and execution of Systems Completion activities by Contractor - Assess proposed Systems Completion Plan and provides key Commissioning and Operations inputs into Contractor deliverables including but not limited to the SCDB, certificates, check sheets, punch listing and walk down procedures, - Conduct data verification of Systems Completion Database to ensure all required components and necessary check sheets are included. Enforce Management of Change to maintain the database in line with approved design changes.
  • Manage systems completion reporting during planning and execution as required in project team reports Recognize applicability and utilize company's learned available from other projects
  • Collect benchmarking data for projects and provide data to the function
  • Assist the effort to capture commissioning company lessons learned
  • Support development, review and issuance of SC metrics
Job Requirements
  • Years of closely related professional experience
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Discipline appropriate certification(s), or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through previous supervisory position, team leader position, engineering lead position or other leadership positions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely convey recommendations to management
  • Good facilitator with the ability to build consensus in areas of contention while enhancing working relationships
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Knowledgeable of Project Completions activities and typical commissioning practices including typical Systems Completion Database software (e.g., WinPCS, MC+, CoConsole, Orbit)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs

  • Champion Worker Safety Programs.
  • Oversee site contractor fabrication, construction, and hookup work activities during Execution Phase.
  • Serve as member of the Project Team (PT) when project assigned.
  • Provide the interface between the work face and the Construction Site Manager or Construction Site Lead.
  • May serve as the lead Company representative at sub-sites where the Construction Site Manager or Construction Site Lead typically does not reside.
  • Provide construction core competency expertise when assigned to the function.
  • Ensure good communications and relations with the contractors.
Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of contractor’s materials management/verification systems.

  • Monitor environmental compliance, as required.
  • Interface with contractor for field level changes, e.g., scope, costs, etc.
  • Verify post-site arrival of procured equipment and engineering equipment.
