We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Logistics Advisor Location: Lagos Job Type: Contracts Category: Others Job Nature: Resident Main Functions

  • Logistics Advisor provides logistics subject matter expertise. May include aviation, marine, shore base, ground transportation and camp services to deliver safe reliable and cost efficient logistic services.
  • Typical Job Positions may include: Logistics Specialist, Aviation Advisor, Marine Advisor Shore Base Advisor, Ground Transport Advisor, Camp Services Advisor and may cover some or all of the responsibilities listed below.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical input into logistics strategies and plans to support "Operating Organizations"
  • Provides technical support and input for logistics activities and interface coordination with "Clients" to support transportation of materials and equipment into, within, and from the country of operation.
  • Provides technical support in managing interfaces with procurement and warehouse services including tax and customs, expediting, shipping/receiving, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), inventory management.
  • Supports Logistics Management to ensure logistics service companies comply with all prevailing regulatory, environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Provides technical expertise and facilitates consistent coordination of Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS), Controls Integrity Management System (CIMS) and Logistic best practices.
  • Provides technical support for Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) programs and inspections of services and equipment including work-site inspections, security, audits and quality assurance verifications.
  • Provides technical expertise and facilitates consistent coordination of complex risk assessments, incident investigation and engineering studies.
  • Leads or participates in logistics cost management and productivity improvement plans.
  • Leads or supports logistics teams troubleshooting issues.
  • Provides technical expertise to support to ensure all Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Export Controls requirements are met.
  • Provides guidance for appropriate logistics components of Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
  • Provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and support for aviation, marine, shore base, ground transportation and camp services.
  • Supports Logistics Management as requested.
  • Develops, maintains and shares Logistics best practices.
  • Networks with cross-functional representatives and teams, industry associations, and suppliers.
  • Development of project plans while identifying application opportunities for lessons learned & best practices sharing.
Job Requirements

  • Lead Site Safety
  • Lead company site team (as assigned) for completion of construction activities in accordance with project objectives, priorities, and contract specifications
  • Serve as member of the Project Team (PT) when project assigned
  • Oversee the execution of fabrication, construction, and hookup
  • Coordinate activities of site safety, technical, and quality inspection personnel
  • Determine if corrective actions are needed in order to meet project objectives, and work to have these implemented
  • Coordinate site interfaces between contractors (and subcontractors) with Production Operations, Drilling, and other ongoing projects as applicable
  • Report progress, performance, initiatives, issues, and challenges to Construction Site Manager or Project Manager as appropriate

  • Work in-country to manage the EPC’s Logistics and Materials Management process. Serve as Logistics interface between Logistics Manager/Lead and Contractor organization to ensure logistics execution.
  • Interface between Logistics manager/Lead and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
  • Provide Logistics and Materials Management support for all project deliverables.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Support Logistics Manager/Lead with Logistics and Materials Management expertise, interfacing with Contractor Logistics and Materials Management personnel
  • Interface with and influence project disciplines to ensure logistics/materials management considerations are included in design and project plan
  • Interface with procurement to understand and influence contracting, materials management, logistics plan for deliveries and customs procedures
  • Develop an understanding of local transport and in-country logistics capabilities and capacities
  • Develop logistics elements of bid requirements, monitor KPIs, and coordinate progress reporting and materials management requirements
  • Familiarity with Logistics Contractors and resources in worldwide markets
  • Coordinate process to pre-qualify, approve, and reevaluate Logistics Contractors

  • Ensure that the materials specification delivered by the vendor is according to PO terms
  • Ensure that any changes to the Purchase Order terms are validated through the Project Management Team (PMT)
  • Ensure that the EPC issues a weekly report showing the status of all POs issued to date paying particular attention to ROS dates and Project Schedule. This report will show transport, receiving, customs clearing, storage and issuing of materials to the line item level. It will also show all exemption or exceptions and rejected materials
  • Ensure all materials received are stored in a safe and secure facility and that the preservation code addressed in the PO has been applied
  • Ensure that the EPC complies with the PO and that each item delivered to the storage facility is adequately marked for easy traceability
  • Reports all Overage, Shortage and Damaged (OS&D) of the received materials to the PMT
  • Create a file and maintain adequate records of each major transaction/shipment/PO
  • Keep a Materials Issue Report Register.

  • Provides safety / health support to the site leadership team and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) ) Contractor's organization.
  • In some cases, responsibilities may extend to other Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) ) issues, status, and metrics.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Ensure establishment and proper implementation of work processes at the site level as stipulated in the Project Safety Plan and the Project Security Plan
  • Monitor, investigate, identify, and resolve site level SSH&E issues, evaluate metrics, and provide weekly / monthly reports to responsible line management, Project Team SSH&E Team, and Function, as required
  • Work with company and contractor’s site management and Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSH&E) organizations to implement project specific site safety programs
  • Advise site Project Team (company, contractor, and subcontractors) of company, contractor, and local authorities’ safety requirements, regulations, expectations, and best practices
  • Facilitate and advise contractor and subcontractors to establish, communicate, and implement safety expectations and initiatives; monitor and stimulate execution with contractor’s safety policy, rules, and procedures; and monitor conformance with project and site safety execution plans and implement improvements where appropriate
  • Promote safety awareness and safe performance among Project Team members, including consultants and contractor personnel
  • Identify and work to eliminate site hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts; work with company, contractor, and subcontractor management toward achieving an injury-free work place
  • Keep site management apprised of significant safety issues and plans / progress toward resolving issues and eliminating hazards
  • Assist in implementation of systematic safety processes to assure compliance with the Project Safety Management System (PSMS) requirements
  • Collect and analyze data on safety initiatives and performance for reporting to project and functional management
  • Identify and assist with prioritization of opportunities for site safety process improvements
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections / assessments onsite and at key offsite subcontractor locations in accordance with established project and site safety plans or as requested by Project Team members
  • May conduct occasional health inspections, as requested by Medicine and Occupational Health (MOH) or the (Senior) Project Safety Advisor
  • Organize and coordinate SSH&E training program

  • Collect and share company's lessons learned between site and outside organizations where appropriate
  • Encourage heightened SSH&E awareness and behavior throughout the site project
  • Assist in the facilitation of site level SSH&E Steering Committee meetings
  • Monitor work processes to ensure compliance with the site work permit system and area / system responsibilities
  • Maintains a high degree of ethical conduct
  • Prepare / provide a safety induction briefing to new team members and visitors to site
  • May collect and report security or health metrics when no security or health advisor is assigned.
  • May be asked to provide other services by the SSHE Function, Project Leadership Team, and / or (Senior) Project Safety Advisor.
Job Requirements
  • Prefer college level education or equivalent
  • Demonstrated work experience in construction safety-related positions (including some prior oil & gas experience)
  • Knowledge of security processes and procedures
  • Proficient in use of computers and programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Microsoft Office
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, as required to function effectively within a project team
  • Prefer prior experience working in a multicultural / multilingual, emerging nation, environment
  • Willingness to travel / live away from home for extended time periods
  • Demonstrated ability (through past project successes) to deliver excellence in project SSH&E performance
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful internal and external working relationships with emphasis on interfacing in a team environment
  • Must be fit for duty for a construction field environment (examples include uneven, unpaved walking surfaces, large structures that are accessible only via ladders or stairs, standing for extended time periods, climbing, bending, walking, reaching, and other physical demands)
  • Ability to work in harsh environments (examples include temperature and / or humidity extremes, remote locations with limited amenities) with changing priorities
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently in performing contractor services with an appreciation for company processes and procedures
  • No training will be provided (other than the company's specific safety standards and procedures).
