Tdh in Nigeria implements projects in Health, Wash and Child Protection sectors and is recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Case Worker Locations: Kukawua/ Cross Kawua/ Maiduguri, Borno Slot: 4 General Objective

  • The purpose of the position is to support the most vulnerable and at-risk boys, girls, men and women through provision of safe and confidential case management services implemented in accordance with the Inter-agency Case Management Guidelines.
  • The post holder will be in charge of implementing case management activities in the Borno State areas ensuring high-quality case management service delivery.
  • The post holder shall be ready to be mobile and conduct a significant part of his/her work in outreach.
  • The job location depends on assignment and might change based on project’s evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Implementation of case management activities for vulnerable and at-risk boys, girls, men and women
  • Accept and handle referrals of protection cases done by governmental authorities and/or child protection agencies in accordance with the standardized case management steps and procedures
  • When requested, conduct community outreach for the identification of the most vulnerable and at risk populations
  • Conduct assessments and prioritize them according to the risk level of each individual
  • Develop an initial individual action plan for new identifications and ensure re-assessment of referred cases based on the evolving needs of beneficiaries
  • Regularly follow up the assigned case to ensure all services and action points listed in the case plan are carried out within agreed timeframes. Ensure that progress is regularly reviewed.
  • Regularly monitor and provide support to individuals through home visits, providing guidance, advice and emotional support, community mediation and referrals
  • Work with the Case Management Team Leader to arrange case conferences for complex child protection cases and ensure children receive multidisciplinary support
  • Manage cases in line with the SOPs, adhere to standard documentation processes and follow best practice guidance
  • Regularly document cases using agreed upon forms, update databases to ensure a comprehensive record of the case
  • Ensure that data collection and storage respect data protection protocols and confidentiality principle
  • Ensure that the consent/assent to proceed with the case management is sought
  • Identify, map and network with external service providers and ensure that an effective referral system is made available
  • Establish and maintain positive and efficient relations with target beneficiaries, communities and all the other actors responding to the crisis
  • Seek for synergies to optimize resources and time and strengthening services for the beneficiaries whenever possible
  • When needed, accompany beneficiaries to external services providers in order to assist and facilitate their access to different type of services
  • Participate in surveys and data collection when required
  • Ensure timely submission of plans and reports to the line manager
  • To be willing to work with a flexible working schedule (weekends included)
Child Protection:
  • Promote, and ensure project activities are in line with child protection principles and humanitarian principles
  • Ensure the project activities are well-integrated into the Northeastern Nigeria child protection system and humanitarian coordination practices and guidelines
  • Ensure Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Minimum Standards are mainstreamed through all the programmatic activities
  • Report serious cases of abuse committed against children to the Child Protection Project Manager. Strict confidentiality must be respected.
Coordination and Representation:
  • Work in close collaboration with Tdh partners and other key actors
  • Coordinates with other Tdh sectors to ensure implementation of standardized activities and with other departments (programme and support) of Tdh Nigeria

  • The Case Management Team Leader is responsible for supervising the provision of safe and confidential case management services for women, men, girls, and boys in a need of protection.
  • The Case Management Team Leader is in charge of supervising, mentoring and guidance of the Case Workers.
Responsabilities and Tasks Team Management & Human Resources Managemen:
  • Participate in the identification, recruitment, training and management of case workers
  • Provide on-the-job mentoring and technical guidance to case workers
  • Ensure regular feedback to the staff under her/his responsibility and appraisal process when needed
  • Participate in ensuring a positive working environment and good team dynamics (solve out potential conflicts) and follow the staff under his/her direct responsibility on a regular basis
  • Participate in the staff meetings
  • Contribute to design and deliver a capacity building plan for case workers, including refresher trainings and workshops throughout the project’s timeframe
Project Management:
  • Ensure that the case management system for children and adults in a need of protection is aligned with the Inter-agency Case Management Guidelines, adheres and refers to the main inter-agency standardized operating procedures and tools
  • Together with the line manager, ensure the establishment and implementation of work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans
  • Ensure that case workers thoroughly follow the case management steps ensuring that each step is properly implemented and documented in the individual’s file
  • Document all registered cases in the Information Management Systems
  • Support individual cases, where it is necessary, and provide regular monitoring of all aspects of case management services
  • Conduct weekly supervision meetings with all caseworkers, providing technical advice on cases and psychosocial support to caseworkers. Facilitate peer-to-peer support groups where appropriate.
  • Monitor timescales for response, decision-making, follow-up and review.
  • Review staff caseloads to ensure that they are manageable and share challenges with senior management.
  • Conduct regular case file audit and check that protocols and principles are respected.
  • Map existing specialized services and make sure that the referral pathway is up-to-date to facilitate beneficiaries’ access
  • Ensure data are collected systematically and accurately and logically presented to the line manager

Application Deadline 11th April, 2018.     Job Title: PSS Team Leader Locations: (Monguno/Kukawua/Crosskawua) Borno General Objective
  • The PSS Team Leader is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the psychosocial support activities aimed at enhancing the psychosocial well-being of children, adolescents and caregivers living in the Borno State areas.
  • Responsibilities include the direct management of a team consisting of PSS workers, PSS volunteers and animator volunteers.
  • The post holder is also responsible to provide on-going technical support to ensure quality and relevance of the overall psychosocial intervention strategy.
Responsibilities and Tasks Supervision of psychosocial support activities for children, adolescents and caregivers living in Borno State areas:
  • Liaise with the partner organizations focal points and community members for the identification of available spaces to conduct psychosocial support activities
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the psychosocial well-being of targeted beneficiaries in all the project’s locations
  • Under the supervision of the line manager and based on the assessment’s findings, design an array of age and gender appropriate psychosocial interventions for children, adolescents and caregivers using Tdh existing tools and guidelines, including material produced by the verified and reputable sources such as UNICEF, IASC, CPWG and others
  • Support the PSS workers to draft a weekly activity schedule and revise it regularly as to make it adaptable to the evolving needs on the ground and according to the logistic needs and constraints
  • Ensure a close supervision of daily activities, support the staff in prioritizing interventions if needed, overcoming challenges and seeking synergies with other actors
  • Provide daily guidance and support to the staff, suggest change, updates and improvements of relevant psychosocial activities when needed
  • Conduct technical follow-up sessions to provide and receive feedbacks, share impressions aiming at improving quality and effectiveness of interventions
  • Ensure that signs of mental health and psychosocial distresses are identified, registered and cared for in timely and quality manner, through referrals when appropriate
  • Seek the support of the Case Management Team leader to train PSS workers, PSS volunteers and animator volunteers on basic concepts of case management in order timely refer cases of individuals at risk or of affected by protection concerns
  • Facilitate initiatives aiming at supporting the reintegration of targeted beneficiaries within communities, empowering them to make use of available existing resources and services
  • Closely coordinate with partner organizations focal points to ensure smooth exchange of information and seek synergies to ultimately benefit targeted beneficiaries

  • Follow up staff attendances, leaves and provide monthly attendance sheets to her/his manager to facilitate payroll process
  • Ensure regular feedback to the staff under her/his responsibility and appraisal process when needed and facilitate good communication within the teams under his/her responsibility

Application Deadline 9th April, 2018     Job Title: Child Protection Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno General Objective The Child Protection Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (M&E Officer) will be assigned the following key duties and responsibilities:
  • He/she develops a MEAL plan, proposes relevant tools and techniques to monitor Child Protection projects in Borno State areas and supports the projects teams in their implementation;
  • He/she consolidates data from the field in order to produce evidence-based, analytical and quality internal and donor reports within the deadlines; He/she ensures that data is transmitted on time from the field to the coordination;
  • He/she represents Tdh at CP coordination meetings at different levels and ensures linkages between the projects and the child protection sub-sectors are effective by sharing and communicating achievements of the projects;
  • He/she has a leading role in Child Protection needs assessments in various Borno State areas: drafting ToRs, consolidating quantitative & qualitative data, writing assessment reports etc.
  • He/she effectively contributes to capacity building of the local partner in the domain of M&E by providing continuous technical support, implementing formal trainings and conducting monitoring visits.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:
  • Develop, share and implement a MEAL plan for all the CP projects implemented by Tdh
  • Report any identified technical challenge, or question to the Child Protection Project Manager
  • Maintain and ensure a culture of strict confidentiality inter Tdh staff and between Tdh staff and non Tdh employees.
  • Develop specific monitoring tools adapted to each CP project
  • Ensure that the monitoring tools are duly filled with reliable data
  • Consolidate qualitative and quantitative projects data and produce evidence-based and quality internal and donor reports within the deadlines
  • Consolidate the monthly sitrep
  • Draft questionnaires and take a lead in data collection
  • Participate in writing assessments and survey reports
Database:
  • Design clear formats for data collection and treatment and train the Child Protection team accordingly
  • Supervise the development and management of a Child Protection database management system

Internal Coordination:
  • Closely collaborate with the Deputy Child Protection Project Manager, Outreach Technical Officer, PSS Technical Officer, FTR Technical Officers, Case Management Technical Officer to ensure that M&E tools incorporate inputs from the respective technical fields of expertise
  • Ensure regular communication with the Child Protection Project Manager about updates, achievements and challenges through meetings, reports and ad hoc communication upon request and upcoming needs
  • Carry out all the procedures connected with the accomplishment of the planned activities (administrative and logistical) through timely communication and collaboration with support departments
  • Deliver any other tasks as assigned by the Child Protection Project Manager
Capacity Building:
  • Closely collaborate with the local partner for capacity building purposes by provision of on-going technical support in the domain of M&E, implementing formal trainings and conducting field monitoring visits to various locations in Borno State areas
  • Lead the process of identification of capacity building needs in the domain of M&E and designing a tailored trainings plan
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to various locations of Borno State areas, organize technical follow up meetings, draft field visits reports, suggest the necessary improvements and monitor its translation intro reality
  • Support the local partner in designing a MEAL plan providing high quality expertise and assisting in development of the M&E tools
External Coordination and Representation:
  • Coordinate with other CP actors on the ground to effectively contribute to the service mapping exercise, establishment of well-functional referral pathways, and information sharing
  • Represent Tdh CP project in fora and meetings held at location or regional level in her/his field of expertise, including sharing of information and reporting
  • Contribute to development of a community network to facilitate the project acceptance and stake holder’s contribution and ownership
Child Protection:
