We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: EH Hygiene Promotion Assistant Location: Konduga, Borno Scope of Work

  • The EH Assistant-Hygiene Promotion will be based in Konduga and report to the EH Officer - Hygiene Promotion.
  • S/he will be primarily responsible for supervising the implementation of hygiene promotion activities at village level as directed by the EH Officer-Hygiene Promotion.
  • The main objective of this position is to support the EH Officer-Hygiene promotion in implementing hygiene promotion activities in the communities.
  • This includes training of Community Hygiene promoters, establishing and training WASH committees, Kids hygiene clubs and directly carrying out hygiene awareness in the communities.
Objectives
  • Ensure that the hygiene promotion activities in the communities are implemented in a timely and professional manner and in line with beneficiary needs.
  • Maintain close links and collaboration with other EH teams and sectors including Health, Nutrition, Protection, CYPD (Child and Youth Protection and Development), Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) and Economic Recovery and Development (ERD).
Major Responsibilities Technical Quality:
  • Directly implement hygiene promotion activities in the communities; this includes household visits, hygiene awareness sessions and distribution of hygiene promotion materials.
  • Coordinate closely with the EH Officer-Water and Sanitation and Hygiene Promoters over water quality and beneficiary needs and preferences regarding water collection points
  • If requested, participate in any inter sectorial assessment process, including analysis and planning.
  • Directly manage the day to day hygiene promotion activities in the field locations.
  • Ensure that hygiene promotion activities meet agreed objectives within the timeframe.
  • Ensure program activities foster accountability to beneficiaries, gender and protection sensitivity and inclusion are adequately addressed in programming.
  • Distribute Information, Communication and Education (IEC) materials to Community hygiene Promoters and train hygiene promoters on their appropriate use.
  • Provide technical support and training for hygiene promoters, community volunteers, community leaders, kid’s hygiene clubs and WASH committees.
  • Provide regular reports, document results and maintain detailed records
  • Provide weekly reports of progress on hygiene promotion activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive control systems on materials and tools used including notes on quality of materials and detailed NFI distribution records.
Staff Supervision & Development:
  • Assist the EH Officer - Hygiene promotion to identify, train and support Community hygiene promoters, WASH committee members and Kids hygiene club members.
  • Supervise and manage community Hygiene promoters.
  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable work teams to successfully complete their tasks on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for community hygiene promoter’s weekly reports, timesheets and weekly work plans.
Monitoring:
  • Participate in daily monitoring and recording of Hygiene promotion activities including house hold visits, Group Hygiene sessions, Mass Hygiene awareness campaigns, NFI distributions and other Hygiene related activities.
  • Participate in Monthly HH surveys and KAP surveys depending on need.
Other duties:
  • Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to the EH Officer - Hygiene promotion, and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor for the development IRC programs
Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma or certificate in Social Sciences or Public Health;
  • Experience in implementation of hygiene promotion activities.
  • Experience in establishment and training of Hygiene Promoters, WASH committees and School hygiene Clubs.
  • Good communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with community members and leaders.
  • Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Competent user of MS Applications: Word and Excel
  • Sound knowledge of English language
  • Knowledge of the Local language - Hausa

  • The position Admin intern is a key Staff Position in the IRC Country Office. The Admin intern is responsible for maintaining systems that support smooth operations of field-based programs. This position is based in Maiduguri field offices.
Major Responsibilities
  • Assist the field in managing Accommodation (Guest Houses and Hotels) and VISAS
  • Arrangement of hotel bookings and reservations for national and international staff to the field office after receipt of approved /filled Travel Authorization Forms(TAF’s)
  • Ensure that all hotels bookings are made in writing and copies of booking/accompanying TAF’s are available in Admin Office for record/tracking purposes.
  • Processing and reconciliation of accommodation and hotels bookings related payments by COB every Friday.
  • Daily accommodation Tracking and Update to security team, field coordinator, HR Coordinator and Copying Transport team.
  • Regular supervision of Cleaners and Cooks in the GH and Offices.
  • Track Rental agreements for offices and housing and submit to the senior Admin/HR Manager Monthly.
Assist in Administration Management:
  • Track and monitor all IRC offices and homes administration and maintenance
  • Assure that all facilities are well functioning, including housekeeping, office supplies, electricity, maintenance and repair, internet and other communications functions in the field office.
  • Assure proper use and functionality of office equipment.
  • Maintain proper records of all correspondence.
  • Assist in procurement and distribution of monthly airtime by 30 of each month for new month distribution.
  • Track Timesheet and report to the HR/Admin Manager by 25 of each month.

Job Requirements Education:

  • The WPE Community Mobilizer Assistant will be a focal person in the awareness raising component of IRC WPE programming.
  • This component aims to facilitate a change in attitudes and behaviors that condone and perpetuate Gender-Based Violence: this involves encouraging men and women to reflectively examine gender roles and inequalities in order to support a safer environment for women and girls, and to facilitate gender-inclusive development in the community.
  • S/he will work with communities to develop and implement plans to improve the safety and security for all individuals in the community.
  • S/he will collaborate and coordinate with other partners to facilitate an effective multi-sectoral approach to addressing GBV.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Community Mobilization and Awareness Raising:
  • Design and participate in awareness raising activities aimed at promoting changes in attitudes and behaviors regarding gender, gender equality and GBV.
  • Identify strategies to promote active community participation in prevention and response interventions designed to address GBV.
  • Play a lead role in the formation of community groups for response and prevention activities.
  • Work with the WPE Trainer, Comprehensive Women Center, Case Worker to facilitate Trainings and sensitizations to community groups, local partners and Community Based Organizations on GBV issues.
  • Promote the involvement of men and youth in GBV activities.
  • Utilize participatory methodology and adult education techniques to assist communities in developing community-driven prevention and response plans.
  • Mobilize community to form ‘action groups’ for awareness raising and encourage greater self-reliance among women in the communities.

  • In collaboration with WPE Case Worker and Trainer, Women action groups and Youth Groups, identify training needs of community members and carryout trainings in a consistent and appropriate manner.

  • Liaise with community leaders, government agencies, IRC sectors, Partners to organize training and capacity building activities.
  • Promote women’s active participation in the leadership and decision-making of the community.
  • In collaboration with Comprehensive Women Center (CWC) Officer, Senior Case Worker and community members conduct safety audits in the camps to identify potential security risks areas and develop strategies to address them.
Reporting and Monitoring:
  • Compile and summarize weekly statistics to M&E Officer for monitoring purpose.
  • Submit weekly narrative reports to WPE Program manager in a timely manner.
  • Communicate all obstacles/Problems to senior Case Worker and WPE Program Manager for further action.
  • Follow-up on psycho-social support activities and ensure that these activities are conducted appropriately and meet the needs of purpose for which they are intended.
  • Follow-up on trainings/sensitizations/meetings conducted to ensure implementation of plans
Financial:
  • In collaboration with other WPE Staff submit monthly activity cash projections for prevention activities in a timely Manner to program manager.
  • Ensure that all liquidations are done in a timely manner with relevant supporting documentations.
  • Submit all financial request to program Manager in a timely manner for onward submission to either supply chain or finance.

Requirements
  • Possess a higher level education in Community Development or a related field
  • Previous experience with community mobilization using participatory methodology.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and flexibility.
  • Must be interested and committed to Human Rights, Gender Equality and Gender issues
  • Must be fluent in community language, spoken and written English: Fluency in Kanuri will be an added advantage

  • The Midwife is a member of the reproductive health team, and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of emergency reproductive health activities in Monguno according to IRC and donor work plans.
  • Implement clinical activities in IRC supported health facilities (comprehensive women’s centers) and ensure that these are integrated with other sectors, especially women’s protection and empowerment (WPE) programs to ensure the best quality of care for survivors of gender-based violence.
  • The Midwife will work to ensure the improved quality of family planning, post abortion are, maternal and neonatal care (including antenatal and postnatal care), case management of sexually transmitted diseases and the clinical care for sexual assault survivors. She will ensure the well-being of girls and women in Monguno both through the IRC supported facilities and through RH Services at community level.
Major Responsibilities Project Implementation:
  • Direct service delivery to patients of the following: family planning, STI treatment, post-abortion care, ante-natal and post natal care, safe delivery and basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care (BEmONC), and clinical care for sexual assault survivors.
  • Technical midwifery support, in line with protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide an active input to the work plans, based on identified trends and needs.
  • Apply technical knowledge and skills to implement and/or assist in program activities.
  • Assist the Medical Doctor for management of patients/clients and consult for any obstetric emergencies and or complications.
  • Monitor program inventory levels of clinic supplies and drugs; perform monthly spot-checks on program inventory.
  • Work with and provide timely technical support to the IRC’s implementing partners; maintain respectful and constructive relations with partner staff, services providers and patients.
  • Provide trainings and adhere to universal precautions, waste management and other protocols.
Community based tasks:
  • Support the community mobilization team in the sensitization of women, men, girls and boys to increased RH awareness and service utilization.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting;
  • Experience working for an NGO in a similar position preferred.

Job Title: Nutrition Nurse Location: Maiduguri, Borno Slot: 2 Scope of Work
  • The Nutrition Outreach Nurse shall support the Nutrition Officer in the implementation of daily nutrition activities and implementation of CMAM program in MMC and Jere LGAs in line with National Guidelines and improving maternal and child health and nutrition, promoting appropriate IYCN practices and hygiene and sanitation.
  • The post holder will work in close collaboration with the government staff, the community and those of the local Partners in implementing the nutrition program.
Major Responsibilities Program Management, Technical Quality, and Strategy:
  • The nutrition outreach Nurse will work together with the nutrition officer and other IRC sectors in implementing CMAM, outreach program and MIYCN activities in MMC and Jere .He/she will Work together with the health facility staff in developing the movement and work plans for the respective health facilities.
  • Work with MOH staff in conducting outreach especially in hard to reach areas where security situation permits
  • Formation, training and supervising the community Health Volunteers to carry out routine MUAC screening at community level and work closely with other outreach staff in screening of SAM children at the OTP sites and facilitate referral of sick children to the stabilization centre.
  • Identification and training of the community in active case finding, referral and defaulter tracing at community level.
  • To ensure that program are implemented in accordance with IRC policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the teams, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the OTP/Stabilization centre
  • Ensure comprehensive health checks and treatment according to the protocols
  • Review the forms completed by staff to ensure completion, accuracy and coherence
  • Ensure adequate availability of all medical and therapeutic supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with supply chain
  • Follow-up and provide feedback to the Nutrition manager on the amount and quality of the treatment supplies if it does not comply with specified quality standards.
  • Follow and respect the current protocols specially drug administration i.e. for de-worming, malaria, polio and measles, and micronutrient mineral/ Vitamin A supplements targeting children and PLW
  • Add the activities linked to health and nutrition education in the protocols

  • Through liaison with the community mobilizers and nutrition volunteers, provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the programme, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems etc.
  • Provide key health and education messages to beneficiaries based the protocol and guidelines
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the OTP sites.
  • Follow-up and ensure the field team interacts with the beneficiaries properly.
Research, Learning and Analysis:
  • Analyze the nutritional situation
  • Compile the statistical data (admission, default, cured, absent, death) and draft a report on activities.
