Action Against Hunger works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: FSL Officer - Social Protection Location: Damaturu, Yobe Slots: 3 Openings Starting Date: As soon as possible Direct Line Manager: FSL Manager - Social ProtectionObjective 1
  • Provide support to the implementation of Social Protection component of the project ensuring successful project delivery.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed planning and implementation for Social Protection  interventions in collaboration with the economic empowerment officer;
  • In close collaboration with the field team, conduct mapping of most vulnerable groups and coordinate beneficiary selection, cash disbursement and regular monitoring of cash utilization by target beneficiaries;
  • Identify program implementation modalities that enhance partnership & coordination with government official, local leaders and local communities, internal integration within sectors and other programs (Nutrition, WASH);
  • Foster areas of cross-program linkages with other Action Against Hunger programs in Yobe State;
  • Ensure program quality and adherence to program objectives, including respect of Action Against Hunger technical guidelines, systems, and established deadlines;
  • Undertake program budgeting of the social protection and safety net interventions, budget monitoring and provide information for cash projections;
  • Contribute to organizational and sector-wide learning through supporting documentation of lessons learned and best practices from the Social Protection component of the project;
  • Contribute to preparing social protection internal and external reports including case studies and success stories as relate to Social Protection  and safety net programme.
Objective 2
  • Social Protection project planning and implementation.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the planning and execution of AAH’s Social Protection programme component including, monitoring and management of the Mission’s support in the target local government area (LGA);
  • Facilitate the implementation of purposive, persistent, context specific and innovative social behavioral change messages aimed at improving the capacity, ability and willingness of vulnerable people to improve their livelihoods;
  • Facilitate constructive partnership engagement with the LGA and other stakeholders  especially  UN agencies including traditional and religious leaders;
  • Conduct relevant training and exchange visits to build capacity of LGA staff on social protection and safety net programme;
  • Working with the Sector Manager Social Protection, Gender Officer and ensure that gender equality, and in particularly, women’s economic empowerment, is effectively mainstreamed through the Mission’s programming in the target LGA;
  • Represent AAH on appropriate working groups and coordination structures at the LGA for information sharing of the Productive Social Safety Net programme;
  • Facilitate identification of relevant research to inform AAH approach to social protection in Yobe State;
Objective 3
  • Facilitate the coordination and integration of Social Protection in other sectors at the LGA level.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate synergies between social protection and livelihoods, health and nutrition interventions in the LGA;
  • Support the integration of climate resilience into social protection and safety nets and foster the development of durable solution in the emergency – development nexus;
  • Undertake effective coordination, and proper documentation of the social protection and safety nets interventions to ensure proper and timely reporting to relevant clusters throughout the period.
Objective 4
  • Provide quality reports on technical activities of the social protection component of the program.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the compilation of monthly social protection and safety nets technical reports with an overview of activities on economic empowerment of the social protection income generation activities area of the program, contextual updates and quantitative indicator follow-up.
  • Review reports and gauge program progress against logical framework, ensuring compliance with the organization internal and donor’s reporting standards.
  • Review all procurement requests for social protection and safety nets of the income generation activities of the program component before submission to the logistics department;
  • Support in follow up on logistics requirements in coordination with the procurement officer and Log manager;
  • Ensure that all program-related data and information on social protection and safety nets component of the program is correct, updated, organized and accessible to other key stakeholders, and that lessons learnt and best practice are documented;
  • Facilitate and support systematic monitoring and evaluation of activities;
  • Support development of activities progress reports for the social protection and safety nets team as well as contribute to the development of donor reports.
Objective 5
  • Performance Management
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Communicate Action Against Hunger performance standards and expectations to social protection assistants which includes ; 10 minutes monthly conversation, 3 months/end of probation performance appraisal and annual/ end of contract appraisal;
  • Establish performance objectives, provide feedback, identify strengths and areas for professional improvement;
  • Contribute to the professional development and improvement of team members by providing support.
Internal & External Relationship Internal:
  • Social Protection Sector Manager:  Line Manager, exchange of information and collaboration;
  • Multi sectorial Program Manager: Exchange of information;
  • Other Sector Managers & FSL team: close collaboration on planning and implementation; Exchange of information;
  • Support team: exchange of information, collaboration, coordination.
External:
  • Ministry of gender and social development: exchange of information, coordination.
  • LGA Team/Community leaders: exchange of information, coordination.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a similar field.
Skills & Experience Essential:
  • A sound understanding of the political, economic, social and cultural environments impacting on social protection and  livelihoods in North eastern Nigeria, including a clear understanding of the relevant Federal Republic of Nigeria policies and  institutional frameworks;
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in area of social protection;
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences at local and state level;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability and ability to work effectively as a member of a team;
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with community members and leaders, partner agencies and key contacts in the government;
  • Strong sense of organization and attention to details.
Preferred:
  • Excellent management skills and experience of working with government authorities;
  • Experience in farmers institution development and management;
  • Value chain development and marketing;
  • Experience with / proficiency in the analysis, management and synthesis of reports; research skills and experience in managing research also desirable;
  • Excellent communication skills including excellent written and verbal skills in English; fluency in Hausa and Kanuri will be desirable;
  • Strong IT skills.

Job Title: Radio Operator Location: Damaturu, Yobe State Starting date: as soon as possible Direct Line Manager: Logistics Officer - Fleet
Objective 1
  • Enhance the effective delivery of Action Against Hunger programmes through electronic communication to conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of all electronic communication equipment.
Tasks & responsibilities
  • Act as focal point for Very High Frequency (VHF) and High Frequency (HF) communication between the base and teams on field missions according to needs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor the Action Against Hunger frequencies.
  • Maintain the radio logbook (location, date and hour of important messages or events) as indicated on SOPs.
  • Transmit / relay messages between teams / AAH Nigeria bases when signal is low.
  • Dispatch according to the needs and register the loan of VHF radio handsets.
  • Training new staff/visitors on the use of VHF and HF radios.
  • Ensure all VHF/HF base and hand held stations are in good working condition.
Objective 2
  • Perform clerical related tasks
Tasks & responsibilities:
  • Carry out scans, photocopy and filling.
  • Provide support to the  arrangement of accommodation bookings for visiting staff.
  • Assist the Logistics Officer in maintaining inventory of assets within office and accommodation rooms.
  • Maintain the office notice boards.
  • Maintain and update daily movement plan.
  • Assist in extraction and filling of data and files from various sources in administrative, human resource, procurement, logistics and Action Against Hunger staff.
  • Assist in supervision of office cleaner/cook and casual workers.
Objective 3 Additional responsibilities:
  • The employee is required to be flexible and adaptable with regards to the implementation of work activities;
  • Conduct all duties in a professional manner following Action Against Hunger staff regulations and charter including commitment to gender equality;

Qualifications
  • Minimum of Secondary education in an accredited academic institution;
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant professional experience in office operation/assistance and related experiences;
Skills & Experience Essential:
  • Good knowledge and working experience with HF and VHF Radios;
  • Capacity to adaptable and flexible;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English;
  • Commitment to Action Against Hunger charter and values;
Preferred:
  • Previous experience in INGO at the same level of position;
  • Knowledge on radio installation/basic maintenance, electricity and/or any technical field;

  • The position is based in Abuja, FCT and responsible for sorting and filling of data from Call for Interest adverts into suppliers template and uploading the framework agreements on Action Against Hunger LINK software for easy management and monitoring.
Position Requirements
  • Have a minimum of Bachelor's degree/HND in relevant field.
  • Outstanding computer skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in office administrative work.
  • Some experience in Logistics and Supply Chain.
  • Capacity to work in a team.
  • Good knowledge of English.
