Supervision of structural engineers.
Technical competence of structural personnel
Forecast requirement for structural engineering resources, and allocate those resources
Structural design integrity of work scope and maintenance of standards.
Identify structural software necessary to enable structural group to function effectively
Interdisciplinary communication development
Structural group communication development
Manage structural discipline man hour estimates to perform project tasks.
Check compliance with Alliance QA/safety/environment goals
Manage structural engineering design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives
Promote career development within the group.
Technical supervision of project designated structural designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duties
Review weekly structural progress and expenditure reports on a project specific basis.
Benchmark structural design/drafting to identify areas of improvements

Requirements Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural)

Industry Specific Experience:

8 years experience, 5 of which has been in conceptual studies, FEED and detailed design of substructure, deck and bridges.
5 years Oil and Gas Industry experience.

Job Specific Knowledge:

Applicants require experience in working in a structural engineering team within a large multi discipline project team.
The role mandates previous experience in minimum facility platform design and including the substructure, topsides and bridges.
A comprehensive understanding of structural analysis using SACS for substructure and topsides in-place strength, seismic & fatigue, load-out, transportation, flotation, upending and lifting analyses as a minimum is required.
Expert knowledge of Analysis, simulation, programming and design calculations,
Application of knowledge to add value, Understanding and implementation of engineering and design process, Equipment design, specification and procurement activities, Designs for constructability, commissioning, operations and maintenance
Ability to develop engineering sketches & details for drafting and to carry out engineering checks of drawings, MTOs, specifications and engineering requisitions is essential.

Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.
Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

Know flow line FEED and detail engineering issues and processes.
Be able to select and provide input to piping for good piping route and develop piping and support layouts for a typical modification or greenfield works.
Be able to carry out piping studies with the ability to develop good technical report and calculations to support the study, including drawings (detailed G.As and Isometrics), where necessary..
Be able to carry out some complex calculations with ability to use at least two (2) design/calculation software; such as CODEWARE, CODECALC, AGA software, etc..
Independently carry out site survey and generate good reports, including recommendations for improved design using best industry practice.

To carry out the Technical Integrity role for the Process discipline

To supervise and co-ordinate all Process Engineers working in the Process discipline group.
To develop and maintain a quality design threshold for the Process discipline through use of understandable quality procedures
To ensure all Process work is carried out within established budgets and schedules
The overall supervision of the Process discipline work
Technical direction, advice and control of the Process work. Liaison with client discipline representatives to establish technical direction where not provided by codes & standards
Scope definition, estimation and progress control of the Process engineering activities
Planning of manhour budgets, schedules, manpower loadings and staffing requirements, by skill and experience, to satisfy project requirements and direction given by the Engineering Manager
Co-ordination of Process engineering design and drafting
Liaison with other discipline Lead engineers on technical issues and engineering matters

Requirements Job Specific Knowledge:

Experience in the development of process flow diagrams, heat and mass balances and piping and instrument diagrams, and in sizing and specification of equipment including separators, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and dehydration and sweetening units.
A good working knowledge of the codes and standards relating to the offshore oil and gas industry particularly the API recommended practices and ASME/ANSI pipe and pressure vessel codes
