  • Assist with development and configuration of infrastructure from conceptualization through stabilization
  • Management, configuration and systems administration of systems, storage, servers, operating systems and computing platforms in all environments (production, test, QA, development, etc.)
  • Perform hardware configuration and administration, event, fault and performance management
  • Provide support to all environments (production, test, QA, development, etc.)
  • Fulfil service requests and perform routine maintenance and support activities
  • Perform backup and recovery activities of information and computer services, in order to guarantee the operations in case of disaster
  • Proactively monitor CPU activity, memory usage, disk I/O and disk usage and provide warnings when these reach critical thresholds
  • Administer web servers for Internet, Intranet and Extranet
  • Provide technical direction in the area of requirement definition, planning, coordination, programming, and implementation of server systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows, etc.) including configuring and building kernels
  • Determining appropriate server size and configuration for business applications (this is done in conjunction with the application development team)
  • Perform system maintenance, high-level support of the operating systems
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Performance of infrastructure hardware and software
  • Frequency of repeated quality audit exceptions
  • Percentage of overdue incidents and problems
  • Recovery time during planned and unplanned outages
  • Number of business requirements fulfilled
  • Proactive  monitoring of applications and infrastructure (timeliness in identifying potential problems before they cause outages)
  • Average hours of downtime & non-availability of IT services in case of failure & Disaster
  • Percentage of incidents/problems due to capacity and performance shortages
Qualifications Education:
  • Minimum of a first degree or its equivalent in a IT related discipline
  • Masters or a recognized professional certification will be an added advantage
Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in systems support/administration
Key Competency Requirements Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure design, implementation and operations
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure and service delivery
  • Proficient knowledge of server architecture
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders
  • Customer-centricity
  • Creative, results-oriented and  analytical with strong problem-solving capability
  • Working understanding of service management tools for event management, provisioning and monitoring
  • Good knowledge of enterprise applications systems such as Finacle 10, Oracle ERP, etc.
