We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Intern- Donor Relations Location: Abuja Classification : Intern, Grade OTHE Type of Appointment : Internship, Six months with possibility of extension Estimated Start Date : 01 July 2019 Background Information

  • Under the supervision of the Chief of Mission in Nigeria and in close coordination with the Programme Development Unit, relevant Field Offices and IOM Headquarters
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination, follow up and donor liaison and reporting concerning the IOM Nigeria funded programming and supporting the Chief of Mission and the Donor Relations Division in strengthening support and general coordination with the donors and on IOM priority programmes and strategic areas.
Supervision
  • The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission in Nigeria and in close coordination and cooperation with other colleagues from the Programme Development Unit, relevant Field Offices and IOM Headquarters.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining and strengthening the Organization’s relationship with donors through regular liaison and provision of information on IOM programmes/projects.
  • Provide weekly updates to the chief of Mission for further dissemination to the Donor Relations Division (DRD)
  • Support the Chief of Mission in coordinating IOM responses to recurrent and adhoc donor
  • requests, including the collection, edition and dissemination of institutional and thematic information
  • Assist in developing tools and guidance to assist IOM field offices in engaging donors on ongoing and prospective programming Follow up on the development and updating outreach tools including donor profiles, partnership for action booklets, etc.
  • Assist in the timely review of donor reports as assigned by the Chief of Mission
  • In coordination with the Chief of Mission, organize high level meetings with IOM and various donors to further build on the IOM/donors relationship.
  • Support IOM staff to review and ensure project documents are aligned with donor priorities and processes
  • In coordination with the Chief of Mission, ensure liaison with IOM field offices, regional offices and HQ departments to compile and submit narrative and financial reports, ensuring compliance to donor requirement
  • Perform such other duties as maybe assigned.
Training Components and Learning Elements The successful candidate will:
  • Learn and gain experience in donor relations within an international set up.
  • Gain experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities.
  • Gain knowledge in administrative and financial management.
  • Understand IOM humanitarian funding, activities and processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience Education:
  • Master's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics and Business Administration or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
Experience:
  • Capability to draft research, policy and other types of papers;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds;
  • Practical experience of how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently;
  • Can proficiently use MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Can engage in various Social Media platforms.
Languages:
  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French, Spanish and/or Arabic is an advantage.
Eligibility and Selection In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
  • Have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM
  • programmes and activities
  • Are either students approaching the end of their studies and preparing a thesis, or recently graduated, who have less than two years of relevant working experience.
  • Must have a Master's Degree
