Terre des hommes (Tdh) is a child relief Non-Governmental Organization with a presence in over 30 countries of the world and more than 90 projects. Our goal is to make a significant and lasting difference to the lives of children in need. We support children in areas of Child and Maternal health, protection, Water and sanitation and Migration. Our humanitarian services sector aid children in crisis situations across the world.Tdh in Nigeria will implement projects in Health, Wash and Child Protection sectors We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Clinical Supervisor (Doctor) Location: Maiduguri, Borno General Objective

  • Reporting to the Deputy Health & Nutrition Manager, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the clinical management and technical supervision of all clinical staff within their team.
Responsibilities & Tasks General duties:
  • Support mothers and their families in the overall care of their new-born babies in communities.
  • Any other related duties as directed by supervisors.
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Promote good recording keeping.
  • Prepare monthly technical reports.
  • Collaborate with Health and Nutrition Coordinator to develop training activities in accordance with health identified training needs for the team.
  • Present in workshops and conduct regular or ad hoc meetings as required.
  • Participate in the clinical evaluation of the team members as technical lead.
  • Reporting / communication
  • Lead on monthly clinical report writing.
  • Support with donor reports.
  • Represent Tdh on request and/or delegation
  • Remain in touch with the population and local authorities to understand needs, complaints, and major events that may have an impact on the activities of Tdh, and in terms of operations perceptions
  • Raise any queries or difficulties related to Tdh activities or security issues
  • Participate in meetings on request
  • Clinical management of pregnant and lactating women including during childbirth.
  • Management of common childhood illness.
  • Supervise the management of referral pathway through medical evacuation of complicated medical cases.
  • Able to recognise their limit and refer patients to appropriate specialist care when necessary.
  • Clinical supervision of midwifery staff.
  • Prescribe and administer medications.

Requirements Knowledge :
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Excellent soft skills and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds in a caring manner.
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Basic knowledge of standard computer software applications and information technology including electronic communication.
  • A Certified Medical Doctor.
  • A minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the humanitarian field or a closely related field.
  • Initiation of treatment for women requiring medical intervention including triage of gynae emergencies.
  • Maintenance of drug and fluid therapy in accordance with agreed Patient Group Directions.
  • Initiation of treatment for children requiring medical intervention for common childhood illness, including triage of malnutrition.
  • Understanding of fundamental concepts and principles of a professional discipline (Duty of candor and duty of care).
Skills :
  • Required qualities: organized, sense of human relations, diplomacy, communication skills
  • Desirable: proactive, autonomous, rigorous, analytical, willingness and motivation to work in an international and intercultural context
  • To have a valid driving license is an asset.
Languages:
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), Hausa and Kanuri.
