  • Promote, develop and implement Action Against Hunger’s learning and development strategies and programs
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Spend time with line managers to gain an appreciation of our ways of working and support department to assess staff capacity needs
  • Establish professional relations with all departments to ensure training needs are met
  • Work closely with various departments across the organisation and having a full understanding of their units and training requirements
  • Ensure baseline training documents and learning activities are produced, maintained and available for the concerned departments and effectively used
  • Develop, maintain and implement the mission training plan.
Objective 2
  • Design and lead the implementation of training plan and Talent management need  within Action Against Hunger
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Design staple curriculums for all employees
  • Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions
  • Create training programmes that are aligned with the organisation’s objectives, values and competencies and having a strong understanding of what these are
  • Acting as the go-to within the organisation for anyone with questions or queries regarding training and development plans
  • Embracing different styles of training techniques, including e-learning, tutorial sessions or coaching
  • Having an awareness of the allocated budget and an ability to find solutions in order to implement the required training
Objective 3
  • Modules development  for each sectorial trainings and technical support to all programs capacity building activities
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Coordination with all sector heads and related staff members for finalization of contents for sectors specific  trainings module development
  • Development of all sectors training modules for the trainings by identifying and describing information needs, submitting initial versions for review; revising and editing final copy
  • Development of standard operating procedures for the trainings submitting initial versions for review, revising and editing final copy.
  • Technical Support and capacity building on training module development to all staff delivering trainings.
  • Leading the whole capacity building activities and provide technical support to the staff engaged in the capacity building activities
  • Monitoring and supervision of trainings as per the developed trainings SOPs
Objective 4
  • Report writing and development of Training Data Base
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Submission of training reports including the training evaluation and impact assessment
  • Development of Monitoring checklist for field visits to ensure the quality of trainings deliver, identify the weaknesses and Gap draft recommendation for training

Position Requirements Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Psychology, Business Management, or a closely related field, AND 3 to 4 years of experience in training, employee development, leadership and organization development
Skills & Experience: Essential:
  • Proven work experience as a training manager
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs

    Job Title: Sector Manager - Sustainable Agriculture Location: Maiduguri, Borno State Job Type: Full Time Start date: as soon as possible Direct Line Manager: National Project Coordinator Objective 1
  • Strategic planning and operations set-up for Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 of the RESILAC programme (Cash for work rehabilitation of productive assets and Sustainable agriculture)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and/or contribute from a technical perspective to relevant feasibility studies, assessments and internal evaluations related to Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 or to the wider RESILAC strategy;
  • Support Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 beneficiary targeting on the basis of a clear methodology agreed with the national Project Coordinator;
  • Participate in the definition of the wider project intervention strategy in collaboration with the national RESILAC project Coordinator, with the other Sector Managers and relevant staff;

Objective 2
  • Technical and operational lead of Sustainable Agriculture (Cash for work rehabilitation of productive assets and Sustainable agriculture) activities in target areas
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 teams, made of officer and assistant level staff;
  • lead the costed planning for Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 in close coordination with the national Project Coordinator;
  • lead beneficiary targeting on the basis of a clear methodology;
  • contribute to the definition of innovative and adaptive agricultural practices that can be tested in the operating environment in Borno State;
  • Manage and closely oversee all activities inscribed under Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 in compliance with technical guidance provided by the RESILAC Regional Technical Advisor and line with the workplan validated by the national Coordinator;
  • Critically assess progress against Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 plans and output trackers and propose course-corrections or impact enhancing modifications when required/possible;
  • Ensure the optimal roll-out of beneficiary support and accountability mechanisms agreed with the project’s MEAL Manager and national Project Coordinator;
  • Support relationship building and management with technical Government and non-governmental implementation partners.
Objective 3
  • Project management, oversight and reporting
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the technical and operational support and oversight of the field teams;
  • Ensure complementarity and synergy between field teams and across all project components (Pillars);
  • Ensure optimal management of Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 from a budgetary, administrative, and logistic perspective, leading communication with internal departments in AAH-Nigeria, in close collaboration with the national Project Coordinator and on the basis of agreed plans / internal policies;
  • Closely collaborate with the project’s MEAL Manager to define Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 M&E plan and to design internal monitoring and evaluation tools as required (e.g.  trainings pre/post-tests);
  • Monitor Pillar 2.1 and 2.3 performance indicators, communicate any target variance to the national Project Coordinator while proposing solutions for getting back on track;
  • Ensure quality and timely activity reporting for Pillar 2.1 and 2.3, to feed into either internal or external donor reports on the basis of the project reporting schedule;
  • Flag-up any need for support and/or training from field staff.

  • Contribute to the mapping of relevant external stakeholders;
  • Participate in external meetings with partner organisations, Government actors, civil society and international stakeholders, as requested by the national Programme Coordinator;

Qualifications
  • Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Agro-engineering, Agronomy and similar field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in food security and livelihoods projects and at least 1 year in managerial positions.

  • Proven experience with rehabilitating productive assets or developing improved production systems in a similar socio-environmental context.
  • Strong drive for innovation in food production techniques.
  • Proven management and coordination skills (HR, projects, and stress management).

  • Lead the operationalization of M&E systems for Action Against Hunger RRM programs to ensure compliance with donor and Action Against Hunger M&E standards.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of AAH M&E systems to guide project start-up, implementation, adjustment, accountability and learning in compliance with Action Against Hunger’s M&E Guidelines and Minimum Requirements for M&E.
  • Propose necessary adaptations to standard M&E systems and processes for streamlining in the aim of RRM programming.
  • Design and implement a robust complaints response and feedback mechanism and accountability framework that can be integrated within the RRM modality. Ensure that issues raised through these mechanisms are managed appropriately, professionally and in a timely manner to best serve the needs of beneficiaries and as well inform any necessary adaptation of project design.
  • Ensure the utilization of a central information management system platform by Project managers for project management and reporting while ensuring timely feedback on project progress.

  • Implementation of Health and Nutrition activities at the facility and community level
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development of joint activity work plans with key stakeholders in the LGA and within ACF
  • Ensure that all services are fully integrated, scaled-up and implemented as per national protocols
  • Establish and foster linkage between the health facility and the community in the respective catchment areas
  • Plan and participate in training of HF staff on IMAM and IYCF and other health packages
  • Building the capacity of the Health Facility staff and community volunteers (CVs) attached to the health facilities on CMAM, IYCF and other health interventions in the LGA

  • Provide monthly updates on PLW and Neighbour Women (NW) grouping at LGA level with specific details on those that newly join the groups monthly.
  • Orientation and training of community based health promoters and H&N packages.
  • Build capacity of CHIPPS, care group facilitators and CGV leaders on Health and Nutrition packages
  • Monitor the knowledge levels of CHIPPS, Care group and CGV leaders and close the knowledge gaps for quality results.

  • Ensure budget utilization for H&N interventions in line with the financial forecast  and within timelines
  • Ensure compliance to logistic and finance during planning of workshops, trainings and/or meeting that requires financial advances and/or logistical procurement etc.
  • Ensure the Health and Nutrition activity targets for care groups, CGV groups, and other core health and nutrition targets is met monthly in selected wards.

  • Maintain close collaboration with LGA Health and Nutrition department and political leadership on health and nutrition issues in the supported LGAs
  • Build relationships with INGOs and local NGOs for synergies in nutrition and health service delivery to avoid duplication of efforts in the targeted LGAs.

  • Community based assessments, community profiling and community based interventions

  • Conduct community mobilization and sensitization for public health and nutrition in targeted LGAs.
  • Share health and nutrition gaps with key leaders, community groups and community members during ongoing meetings in community and LGA.

  • Submit issues log report to H&N Sector Manager with updates on specific actions taken so far and the further actions required.

  • Develop detailed planning and implementation strategies for Cash based Transfer and IGA Social Protection  interventions in collaboration with the  economic empowerment officer and the assistance of the MPM
  • In close coordination with the field team, coordinate mapping of most vulnerable groups and coordinate beneficiary selection, cash disbursement and regular monitoring of cash utilisation by target beneficiaries
  • Identify program implementation modalities that enhance partnership & coordination with government official, local leaders and local communities, internal integration within sectors and other programs (Nutrition, WASH)
  • Identify areas of cross-program linkages with other Action Against Hunger programs in Yobe State.

  • Design and develop purposive, persistent, context specific and innovative social behavioral change messages aimed at improving the capacity, ability and willingness of vulnerable people to improve their livelihoods

  • Support identification and commissioning of relevant research and analysis which informs AAH approach to social protection in Nigeria.
