Job Title: Broker Development Manager REF: 1382/NIGE/EU/BROKER DEVELOPMENT MANAGER/Nigeria/081019 Location: Lagos Contract: Permanent Available: ASAP Category: Insurance Introduction
  • This role forms the integral link between OM and brokers. The role is also responsible for the management of assigned brokers. The Incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own and team efforts.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Develops and implements a sales, marketing and support plan for all brokers under the team’s purview
  • Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with all contracted brokers in designated portfolio.
  • Analyses the sales product mix in order to react to trends, and ensure profitable growth of the portfolio.
  • Manages the relationship between Old Mutual and brokers, and ensures maximum growth of the portfolio.
  • Researches competitor offerings and makes recommendations.
  • Reacts to market trends and competitor initiatives to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Supports and advises on all product-related aspects of all Old Mutual products to Brokers.
  • Ensures that Old Mutual and product providers understand Broker's product and marketing needs.
  • Meets all new business targets as set out at the beginning of each year.

  • Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks and output quality over periods of 1 day to a maximum of three months.

Marketing:
  • Assists the Broker consultants in ensuring that the broker market is serviced at all times
  • Markets Old Mutual services and products to brokers face to face
  • Develops new business sources
Sales Support:
  • Assists the Broker consultants in ensuring that the broker market is serviced at all times
  • Receives requests for quotations from brokers and makes alterations to existing business
  • Supports and advises on all product-related aspects of  products to Brokers
  • Ensures that Old Mutual and product providers understand Broker's product and marketing needs
Relationship Building:
  • Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with all contracted brokers in designated portfolio
  • Convinces brokers to sell Old Mutual products and services.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications and Experience
  • Completed tertiary education, Business or Sales Marketing Qualifications.
  • Good Analytical skills, technical/insurance product knowledge and relevant sales experience would be an added advantage.

  • This role assists the branch Coordinator in ensuring that the key financial expectations in terms of general premium revenue are met. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts.

  • Manages the relationship between Old Mutual and its clients, and ensures maximum growth of the portfolio.

  • Understanding of the basic principles of insurance as applicable to life insurance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the information gathering process, the factors that affect the accepting and underwriting of risks, and how these are applied on a day-to-day basis.
Sales Support:
  • Receives requests for quotations from brokers and clients and makes alterations to existing business.
  • Supports and advises on all product-related aspects of products to Brokers and clients.
Relationship Building:
  • Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with all contracted brokers and clients in designated portfolio.
  • Convinces brokers to sell Old Mutual products and services.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification/recognition of prior learning.
  • 2-3 years working experience. Working knowledge in insurance/financial services would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Ibadan market and its environs would be an advantage.
