We are seeking professionals to fill the positions below:     Job Title: Pharmacist Location: Rivers  Details

  • The Pharmacist will set up and manage the day-to-day running of a pharmacy in a newly established Community Health Centre (CHC) for key populations and their sexual partners who engage in high risk behaviors that predispose them to increased risks of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and perform other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute significantly to the setting up of a pharmacy in the Community Health Centre (CHC).
  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the pharmacy
  • Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information obtained is complete and accurate
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Maintain proper inventory of medications and supplies
  • Ensure that patient records are kept confidential
  • Answer telephones, responding to questions and requests
  • Fill bottles of prescribed medications and type and affix labels
  • Counsel customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring to the Doctor for further medical or medication information.
  • Ensure that all pharmacy related reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Undertake any additional activities such as clerical and administrative functions as identified by the Medical Officer and Project Director.
Qualifications
  • Level of Education – minimum B.Pharm. or equivalence MD, Masters of Public Health, in related field
  • General communication, supervisory & interpersonal skill level – Excellent

  • Level of IT expertise required – Good
  • Ability to travel within and outside Nigeria

      Job Title: Program Manager Location: Rivers Job Description
  • The Program Manager will provide technical and management supervision in the design and implementation of comprehensive HIV /AIDS program, capacity building, quality assurance and policy efforts with focus on reducing HIV and STI prevalence, averting new infection and improving the sexual and reproductive well-being of key and vulnerable populations in Nigeria.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and management support to the design, implementation and monitoring of projects activities in close collaboration with partners, government, NGOs and Civil Society.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of project costed workplans and budgets.
  • Identify and propose staff capacity development and training.
  • Undertake data collection and analysis and provide technical support to align with deliverables, donors’ requirements and key projects intervention strategies.
  • Implement quality management system in line with national guidelines and international global best practices.
  • Develop and monitor projects tasks and activities with project goals in line with approved workplans and standards for high quality.
  • Monitor operational budgets in line with approved projects’ terms of reference.
  • Contribute to new business development and proposal writing.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirement in the implementation of projects.
  • Provide technical support in the identifying, collaborating and forming partnerships with key institutional partners in the mission of the Council.
  • Liaise with the Country office and partners on overall requirements as projected within approved work plans.
  • Liaise with the Country Office Manager on how best to manage the Rivers field office.
  • Provide supervisory oversight to the Finance & Administration Officer and temporary hires.
  • Provide on-the-ground oversight function of the office management.
  • To perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor, Senior Officers and Project Director as may be deemed necessary.
Qualification and Experience
  • Master's degree in Health Policy, Public Administration, or Public Health with 5-8 years of work experience.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis
  • High degree of independence, creativity and commitment
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure and to make well organized verbal presentations.

      Job Title: Finance & Administration Officer Location: Rivers Job Descriptions
  • This position provides support primarily to the Director of Finance & Administration, Abuja office, Nigeria in carrying out the day to day financial management of the CHRC in Rivers. This includes budgeting, financial reporting, professional documentation, tracking and monitoring of all projects implemented in the Rivers office; ensuring compliance to donor’s and Population Council’s Policies; keeping accurate financial records, professional documentation, timely liquidation, and controls Council’s assets.
  • This position must confidentially handle all financial and program documents and seek guidance from the Director of Finance and Administration on matters relating to confidentiality of information.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the Senior Financial Accountant and Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) in managing the accurate and timely preparation of the office’s monthly expenditure report.
  • Provide support to  staff and partners on budget, finance and audit needs for seamless projects implementation and reporting.
  • Document in a professional manner, all financial related activities of the office.
  • Ensure timely payments to vendors and liquidation of advances.
  • Provide daily update of the accounting software with all payments and receipts.
  • Manage  petty cash disbursement and reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance to donors and Population Council’s policies.
  • Support the DFA to Represent the Council to local accounting firms, bankers, auditors, Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue and Federal Inland Revenue Service.
  • Collaborate with the Abuja based Finance staff to ensure timely remittance of Rivers state staff PAYE and WHT; Update of staff records with the remittance and issuance of credit notes to the vendors for remitted WHT.
  • Ensure daily preparation of vouchers for payment
  • Provide financial support during all program activities; participants reimbursement and hotel bills reconciliation.
  • Liaise with Admin/Logistics Unit in procurement; inventory, storage, update of asset register and ensure proper usage of procured items and other office assets.
  • Supervise the project expediter and use of office vehicles, ensure proper usage of fuel coupon and vehicle logbook.
  • Other work-related tasks assigned by Director of Finance and Administration and Project Manager towards the achievement of the strategic priorities of the Council.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma in Accountancy.
  • Two years  of working experience in the fields of Audit, Finance, Grants, Contracts and Accounts
  • Professional Membership in ICAN, ACCA or ANAN.
  • Computer Literacy in Micro soft office and accounting software.
  • Proven interpersonal relation skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude towards issues of development in general and reproductive health in particular.
  • Ability to interact in cross- cultural setting with ease.
      Job Title: Medical Officer Location: Rivers Details
  • The Medical Officer will manage the Community Health and Research Centre (CHRC) for key populations and their sex partners who engage in high risk behaviors that predispose them to increased risks of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and perform other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the management of clinic and paramedical staff and oversee the day-to-day running of the community-based clinic ensuring that staff remain motivated.
  • Provide clinical sensitized, unbiased KP-friendly clinical services to clients who access care at the centre and community outreach activities.
  • Ensure that all program reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the program adheres to all policies and guidelines.
  • Undertake any additional activities identified by the Supervisor and Program Director, as may be deemed necessary.
Qualifications
  • Level of Education – MBBS, MPH preferred.
  • Up-to-date license to practice from the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council.

      Job Title: Senior Nurse/Counselor Location: Rivers Details
  • To provide technical support and capacity strengthening in HIV counseling and testing, HIV/STI prevention education, STI syndromic management, ART and PrEP adherence counseling, care and psycho-social support group services and other secondary health care services at the community-based outpatient center, Rivers for Key Populations and their sex partners who engage in high risk behaviors that predispose them to increased risks of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
  • Additionally, perform other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Administer treatment and care at the community centre in line with good clinical practice.
  • Provide technical support and coordinate the day-to-day clinical management of clients and running of the center.
  • Contribute to local capacity strengthening of the clinical team in adherence counseling, case management and community-based participatory in research; provide HIV/STI behavior change and communication prevention communications.
  • Support the project implementation team in coordinating and supervising support group meetings and commodity management.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices, lessons learned and results and highlight the success of community based comprehensive HIV prevention, treatment and care among key populations.
  • Contribute to periodic data collection, analysis, report writing and work plan development in collaboration with other program units.
  • Provide psychosocial support and mental health, substance abuse treatment, and referral services 8. Provide technical and clinical support to research activities at the centre.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Medical Officer and Project Director.
Qualifications
  • Level of Education - Bachelor of Nursing degree & MPH preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in HIV and Sexual & Reproductive programming in the public or private health sector.
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
  • Knowledge of MS application softwares.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the state and country when needed
  • Trained and certified HIV and AIDS counselor
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly under time pressure.
      Job Title: Logistics Assistant/Driver Location: Rivers  Details
  • To provide a reliable and courteous transportation service to staff and maintain vehicle documentation.
Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain office vehicle with a focus on safety and passenger courtesy.
  • Assist passengers courteously and help with their baggage where necessary.
  • Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route services.
  • Keep assigned vehicles clean inside and outside.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records as requested by management, including vehicle logs and vehicle documentation.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles, including general upkeep, and checking for example oil, water, break, clutch fluid, tyre pressures. Ensure any faults are promptly and appropriately reported.

      Job Title: Laboratory Scientist Location: Rivers  Details
  • The Laboratory Scientist will coordinate the laboratory team to effectively support all programs and research activities in Rivers state.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the laboratory technical support to strengthen biomedical interventions in all programs and research activities.
  • Provide Laboratory quality management system and support services to all projects.
  • Monitor the quality and integrity of laboratory services and data at all levels.
  • Contribute to timely submission of program / research reports.
  • Monitor the biosafety status of the laboratory site.
  • Provide routine laboratory services according to good medical laboratory practice.
  • Manage laboratory inventory and reagent logistics.
  • Develop and maintain a reliable laboratory management information system.
  • To perform other duties as may be assigned by the Medical Officer and Program Director as may be deemed necessary.
Qualifications
  • Level of Education - Minimum of Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that all appliances are switched off before locking the office at the close of business.
  • Sweeping, mopping floors, dusting surfaces, furniture and computer equipment.
  • Restocking paper products and other supplies to restroom and offices.
  • Disinfecting offices and surroundings
  • Cleaning windows and rails within the office
  • Cleaning and disinfecting gutters and weed grasses within the office premises.
  • Ensuring disposal of waste through the approved agency.
  • Watering flowers at respective offices
  • Safeguarding office keys and appliances
