  • Develops and ensures implementation of SEPLAT’s procedures for effective management of drill cuttings and oilfield waste.
  • Continually check and verify contractor’s designs and implementations of waste disposal systems.
  • Make sure Safety processes are adhered to/and compliance to global operations standards are well followed by service companies.
  • Regularly update waste management policies and procedures through lessons learnt and service quality meetings.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets; manage contractor employees in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Maintain proper handling procedures for all waste materials

  • Provides as required technical support to supplement experience of Contractors Drilling Fluids Engineers.
  • Works with the Mud Contractor and drilling Fluids Superintendent to deliver enhanced quality service and to ensure the program meets the objectives of delivering the well without
  • Proactively ensure well operations fluids meet technical and operational requirements of the drilling and mud programme and are cost effective.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of work and reporting of all drilling fluids related contractors at the rig-site.
  • Monitor drilling and completion activities and provide technical advice as required to keep the mud in the best state to perform its role in the well.
  • Monitor utilization of drilling fluids chemicals to ensure there is no wastage and are being used in a preventive manner to preclude well problems.

  • Ensure the safe, economical and efficient performance of the drilling, and well completion activities by supervising the execution of the activities in compliance with Company standards, contractual requirements, work program and current and current legislation
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged on the rig area consisting of one or more well sites: Directs workers on safety, equipment usage, rig move concerns and drilling crews in setting up and operating power units, draw works and other drilling equipment
  • Orders type of drilling bits to be used, according to type of strata encountered.
  • Directs workers in mixing drilling mud and circulating mud in borehole, and in use of special drilling mud to prevent blowouts from gas pressure.
  • Cooperate with the technical engineers to set up a proper maintenance plan for the drilling equipment. Be responsible for safe working conditions on the rig site at all times.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Safe Job Analysis before start-up of the non-routine operation or job and ensure completion of risk assessment where required.
  • To provide continuous, accurate, clear and concise information to the SWE on any aspect of the rig operation and when necessary on continuous twenty-four (24) hours per day basis.

  • Safeguard the company’s asset and environment (e.g. wells, materials and equipment)
  • Supervise the drilling contractors and service employees to deliver the highest quality performance and technical integrity of the wells. Adhering to the global and local technical standards.
  • Verify that all contractors adhere to and are fully aware of company well control policy and Procedures. Also effective manage emergency response plans for well operations.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to assist the drilling superintendents/well operations delivery manager
  • Follow management of change procedures and report any deviations to the program and/or Non-planned events to the Senior Well Engineer (SWE).
  • To provide continuous, accurate, clear and concise information to the SWE on any aspect of the rig operation and when necessary on continuous twenty-four (24) hours per day basis.
  • Communicate learnings and advise on potential areas of performance improvement or improved value to the SWE
  • Responsible for the creation of well site reports and verifications of drilling data. Ensure accuracy of the data and timely close out of reports. Also responsible for the timely sending and quality of the daily operations report.
  • Verify and sign off job tickets and WCCs for jobs performed at the well site

  • Review the technical specifications of drilling rigs and service providers and assist drilling manager on choosing them.
  • Approve the procurement, transportation, transfer and delivery of rigs’ material, equipment’s and tools.
  • Lead and support a team of Drilling Superintendents / rig / service providers/ subcontractors teams responsible and discuss/advise the Drilling Manager on operational and HSE issues related to the drilling Operations.
  • Review the well program prepared by Drilling Engineering and approve the feasibility of operation
  • Monitor ongoing drilling operations, following the well plan/interference tolerances and ensure the operations are executed in accordance with the local procedure and guidelines and corporate standards.
  • Optimize and improve the execution of drilling operations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings with the Drilling Superintendents and the Contractor’s Rig Managers, sharing lessons learnt from incident reviews and leading indicators.
  • Conduct a quarter safety meeting with Drilling Contractors and Service Contractors
  • Conduct regular visits to the well site to ensure that contractors are executing the work in a safe and efficient manner following the Company, local, and international operating standards and practices
