  • Ability to adhere to style guidelines and a desire to work in a fast-paced news environment are essential.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Job Title: Investigative Reporter Location: Nigeria
Responsibilities
  • We are looking for experienced investigative reporters who will dig up stories and hold the powerful to account.
  • The investigative reporter will work on their own investigative pieces, both short-term and long-term.
  • They’ll also work collaboratively with other newsroom members as needed on larger projects or to suggest the best ways to dig up information.
Qualifications The ideal candidate must have at least three years of newsroom or journalism experience and at least a first degree. What’s more, the ideal candidate is:
  • Create, research and write news and features through investigation and research
  • Excellent at juggling long-term work with quick-turn projects as driven by the news cycle.
  • Knowledgeable at conceptualizing and applying data visualization techniques.
  • Able to meet deadlines, respond to editing and adapt to new work situations, people, ideas, procedures and organizational structures.
  • Passionate about upholding solid journalism ethics and has a track record of making sound decisions.
  • English proficiency is a must
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills.
  • Dynamic live reporting skills. Successful candidates will exhibit maturity, reliability, composure and stability under pressure.
  • Fluent at using sources, documents, computer-assisted reporting and other journalistic tools to develop, report, write and produce exclusive, impactful stories and investigative projects.
  • Generates strong story ideas that can lead the publication
  • Research, develop, write and produce ground-breaking investigative content
  • Can juggle stories and projects along multiple timelines, demonstrating exceptional time-management skills.
  • Effective at making public information requests, following up with agencies and mining the data to identify important stories.
  • Collaborate with news managers to dig into the big story of the day for topical investigations that accentuate unique angles and exclusive content.
  • Flexible and has experience working collaboratively within a newsroom.
  • Someone who possesses excellent writing skills with an ability to think creatively about telling stories for the web.

Job Title: Mobile App Developer Location: Nigeria
Responsibilities
  • Fixing bugs and performance problems
  • Writing clean, readable, and testable code
  • Cooperating with back-end developers, designers, and the rest of the team to deliver well-architected and high-quality solutions
  • Build & maintain cross-platform applications for Android, iOS and PWA.
  • Consume services and APIs like Firebase, Serverless services, and others.
Skills
  • Translation of designer mock-ups and wireframes into front-end code.
  • Good knowledge of multiple operating platforms in the existing domain.
  • Good knowledge of cybersecurity.
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs.
  • Knowledge of Flutter, React Native.
Beneficial but not required:
  • Fluency with Java and/or swift.
   
Job Title: Project Accountant Location: Nigeria
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for accurate and timely posting of all financial transactions and ensures the application of proper accounting controls and uniformity with financial regulations, rules, policies and procedures, donor terms and conditions and government policies.
  • Ensure preparation of documentation for the audit.
  • Assists and support programme personnel in relation to handling financial aspects of programme activities.
  • Maintain a financial office system.
  • Prepare cash payment vouchers and ensure that all cash transactions are fully and properly documented and filed
  • Verify correctness of cost/expense documents and ensure that payment requests are supported by source documents and required authorizations are in place.
Education/Experience/Language requirements Desirable:
  • Very good inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Sound numeracy skills
  • At least three-year on-the-job experience with local or international nongovernmental organisations.
  • Requisite academic/professional qualification in accountancy
