We are looking suitable candidate to fill the position below:       Job Title: Nutrition Assistant Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Summary

  • Plan and organize OTP at designated OTP sites in liaison with SMoH staff and nutrition officer.
  • Supporting targeting of beneficiaries; formation and establishment of Care groups; selection of community volunteers and members of community structures.
  • Work closely with care group promoters and lead mothers to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and agreed and appropriate referrals take place to and from the community to OTP sites.
  • Take lead on the CMAM services at fixed and mobile outreach OTP sites.
  • Work closely with the teams to ensure all children are screened correctly.
  • Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the teams, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the OTP/SC.
  • Ensure comprehensive health checks and correct clinical diagnosis at the time of assessment according to the CMAM protocols so that the patient receives appropriate treatment in the relevant program.
  • Ensure all children in OTP are immunized according to the national protocols.
  • Ensure timely identification of complications, non-responders, and referrals to the SC.
  • Ensure correctness, consistence and completeness of the information in the nutrition registers.
  • Ensure adequate availability of all medical and food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with logistics
  • Through liaison with the community volunteers provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems... etc.
  • Provide key health and nutrition education messages to beneficiaries based on the protocol and guidelines
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the OTP sites.
  • Follow-up and ensure the field team interacts with the beneficiaries properly
  • Provide a daily and weekly CMAM report to the nutrition officer.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors
Compliance & Ethics:
  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps.
  • As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse with a Degree in Nursing from a recognized Nursing institute.
  • Over two (2) years’ experience in CMAM and IYCF programmes
  • NYSC Certificate or Exemption letter
  • Valid and current practicing license.
  • Excellent report-writing skills is an additive
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa
  • Commitment to and understanding of IMC’s aims, values and principles.

      Job Title: Stabilization Centre Nurse Location: Damboa, Borno Slot: 2 Openings Program Background
  • IMC has been implementing its curative and preventive nutrition intervention in 15 OTPs of Damboa, Jere, Konduga and MMC LGAs. The curative component targets children, 6-59 months with SAM. Community health volunteers screen and refer children with a MUAC <11.5cm or WHZ < -3 or those with grade + or ++ or edema to OTP sites for treatment.
  • SAM cases are treated at the OTP using RUTF, deworming and Vitamin supplementation. Children with severe acute malnutrition and medical complications or those <6 months are referred to stabilization centers.
  • In addition, caregivers of children 6-59 months are trained on how to measure MUAC. If a caregiver identifies a child with SAM these are re-assessed by the CHV and if confirmed, the child is referred to the OTP. These children receive nutrition support through RUTF based on their weight, treated for infections using routine medication and screened and treated for malaria. The severely acutely malnourished who are 24-59 months are de-wormed. All severely acutely malnourished without edema receive routine vitamin A supplementation and zinc supplements for those that present with diarrhea, whilst those presenting with malnutrition and medical complications are to stabilization centers for specialized treatment.
Job Summary
  • The principal objective of the Stabilization Centre (SC) Nurse role is to manage acute malnutrition as part of the basic health services in line with the national and international guidelines.
  • The SC Nurse is responsible for nutrition rehabilitation of the admitted children through treatment of medical complications of Severe Acute Malnutrition and prevention of further deterioration of the nutrition situation through provision of therapeutic feeds, routine and specialized medicines, health and nutrition counselling.
  • The SC Nurse is also responsible for ensuring quality of services through capacity building and technical support to the SC nutrition assistants in the management of complications associated with Severe Acute Malnutrition in line with the SC national and international protocols.
Main Responsibilities
  • Ensuring comprehensive medical examination, vital signs, frequent medicines and treatment according to the protocols.
  • Following and adhering to the current protocols on drug administration i.e. antibiotics, antimalarial, anthelminthic.
  • Ensuring timely therapeutic preparation and administering the appropriate feeds and medicines for the malnourished children in the SC.
  • Carrying out daily nutritional status monitoring of severely malnourished children as prescribed in the protocol.
  • Providing appropriate nutrition counselling and health education to the mothers and caretakers in the SC based on the protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensuring adequate availability of all drugs and nutrition supply and ensuring stock is pre-positioned as planned.
  • Consulting and informing the SC Doctor and/or Nutrition Manager on issues that may affect the smooth operations of the stabilization Centre.
  • Ensuring proper handing over of duties within the SC.
  • Preparing and updating the medical and nutritional record for ward rounds on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring all criteria are adhered to and documented, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the OTP
  • Completing and updating the patient file to ensure a track of patient progress.
  • Compiling the statistical data (admission, default, cured, absent, death) and drafting a report on activities.
  • Maintaining supply consumption reports.

      Job Title: Warehouse Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Summary
  • The Warehouse Officer will work within the Logistics department of Operational Support structure, committed to provide reliable and compliant support to program activities in order to achieve efficient service to program beneficiaries.
  • The Warehouse Officer will ensure smooth operations of IMC warehouses and directly manage the receipt, dispatch and inventory keeping of all food and goods that enter the storage facilities.
  • Through implementing IMC and donor’s Warehousing procedures the Warehouse Officer will ensures that all food and inventories will be accounted for in accordance to IMC and donor requirements.
Main Responsibilities
  • Daily coordination of IMC warehouse activities; Ensure quality control in the process of receiving issuing and storage of goods.
  • Has a full understanding of warehouse policies and procedures?
  • Prepare warehouse report on receipt and issues of goods including Donation in Kind.
  • Travel to field sites to deliver and or receive and inspect goods delivered directly to the field;
  • Interacts with WFP transporters and staff in the receiving and inspection of goods – receives, delivery notices, packing lists and issues GRNs.
  • Dispatches goods and related supplies from the warehouse using appropriate IMC warehouse established procedures, Goods Issue Order, Waybills and update Stock Records accordingly.
  • Prepare report of monthly stocks, end of grant stocks, fiscal year physical counts and other physical counts, as instructed by supervisor.
  • Ensure warehouse best practices are undertaken; display of bin cards on each item in the warehouse; stock verifications on (expiry dates), FIFO/FEFO, generate the commodities movement way bills and gate passes etc.
  • Maintain physical and electronic copies of inventory, as per formats and forms provided in the Warehouse Manual;
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Officer for transportation and arrangement for food timely dispatches
  • Ensure proper warehouse control measures are instituted such as; the commodities movement way bills, gate passes and visitors logbooks, spot checks etc.
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to IMC and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Nigeria.
  • Should be actively supporting and promoting safe work practices.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment.
Communication and teamwork:
  • Ensure good communication with the direct reports, other IMC staff and donor’s representatives
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
  • Report problems encountered in the warehouse or within the team to the Supervisor
  • Propose solution to solve any problem faced and report them to the Supervisor
  • Participate actively in regular staff and program meetings.
  • Prepare weekly team’s work schedule and submit to the Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications and Experience
  • University Graduate in a relevant Business field is desired.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in large scale logistics operation
  • Experience in North East Nigeria is an added advantage.
Required Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills and discipline to follow outlined procedures
  • Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • High computer skills on MS Office (Excel, Words, Outlook) programs.
  • A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action as to not delay program activities.
  • A clear understanding of procurement ethics and donor compliance is essential.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the project areas in Borno state is required.
  • Must have the ability to read, understand and demonstrate willingness to follow guidelines.
  • Good knowledge and experience with different data entry management software within a humanitarian organization,
  • Good human relations and diplomacy. Analytical and capacity to organize work and team, to work under stressful situations. Strong organizational and time management skills and capacity to coordinate work across multiple departments and sites.
  • Experience living in remote or isolated work stations, or insecure locations.
