We are recruiting to fill the position below:       Job Title: Community Engagement Officer Location: Borno Job Type: Contract Job Duration: 9 Months Job Purpose

  • The purpose of this role is to coordinate and lead community engagement and mobilization activities for the response programmes in line with International minimum standards in locations within Borno states.
  • The post holder will be supervised directly by the Case management officer and technically by the Child Protection in Emergencies Specialist and expected to work very closely with other members of the programme team.
Dimensions of Role
  • Communicates within CHAD and with partners and related government institutions.
  • The post holder will coordinate the community based protection programming interfacing with other programme team members.
  • The post holder will also contribute towards the capacity building of CHAD Internationals implementing partners.
Key End Results and Typical Responsibilities Programme development & Quality Management: In collaboration with the Field Team, Project Manager and CPiE Specialist, the Community Engagement Officer will be:
  • Support the strengthening of child protection community-based systems inclusive of developing trainings, supervision/coaching tools, monitoring and tracking tools and improve referral systems;
  • Provide support in the development of alternative care systems in accordance with international policies and national procedures/norms;
  • Conduct and supervise training with men and boys, women and girls on social norms change and CP prevention and response using agreed methodology;
  • Support the establishment and strengthening of community based mechanisms and groups including adolescent peer groups, child protection committees, children’s clubs, parent grouos and informal foster caregivers,
  • Support community advocates and children to develop participatory media and other IEC materials to use in the community to raise awareness;
  • Conduct training and follow-up with teachers, government and partner staff and other stakeholders in community based protection
  • Design and facilitate community mobilization/sensitization campaigns in collaboration with Community Engagement Workers, Community Based Protection Mechanisms, and children/adolescents
  • Supervise the CFS staff members/volunteers on location to ensure quality implementation of activities;
  • Provide ongoing support and ensure child participation and safeguarding practices are strictly adhered to;
  • Provide support to parent groups and caregivers by organizing and leading sessions with parents on positive parenting practices.

      Job Title: Child Protection Specialist/Technical Adviser Location: Borno Job Type: Contract Job Duration: 9 months Summary
  • The Child Protection Specialist/Technical Adviser serves as the technical lead and manages program delivery of CHAD child protection programs in Borno state emergency contexts, including leading CHAD’s signature program Child-Friendly Spaces. The incumbent deploys to disaster or crisis-affected areas and is responsible for supporting the needs assessment, partner identification, program planning and implementation and ongoing technical support.
  • The Child Protection Specialist/Technical Adviser monitors program data, tracks program budget and ensures partners have necessary program supplies. The incumbent is responsible for creating and contextualizing program and training content that best meets the needs of partners and program goals.
  • As a frontline representative of CHAD, the position holder is required to ensure safety and protection of children and families that they come in contact with and represent the agency values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity, and Integrity.
Essential Duties
  • Support the development of response and recovery strategies; lead on the development of child protection goals, objectives and inputs. Provide ongoing technical assistance as needed.
  • Create and strengthen program and guidance materials, tools and processes to improve program quality and impact.

Required Qualifications

      Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Location: Borno Job Type: Contract Job Duration: 9 Months General Objective The Child Protection Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (M&E Officer) will be assigned the following key duties and responsibilities:
  • He/she consolidates data from the field in order to produce evidence-based, analytical and quality internal and donor reports within the deadlines; He/she ensures that data is transmitted on time from the field to the coordination;
  • He/she represents CHAD at CP coordination meetings at different levels and ensures linkages between the projects and the child protection sub-sectors are effective by sharing and communicating achievements of the projects;
  • He/she has a leading role in Child Protection needs assessments in various Borno State areas: drafting ToRs, consolidating quantitative & qualitative data, writing assessment reports etc.
  • He/she effectively contributes to capacity building of the local partner in the domain of M&E by providing continuous technical support, implementing formal trainings and conducting monitoring visits.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:
  • Develop, share and implement a MEAL plan for all the CP projects implemented by CHAD
  • Develop specific monitoring tools adapted to each CP project

Child Protection:
  • Promote, and ensure project activities are in line with child protection principles and humanitarian principles
  • Ensure the project activities are well-integrated into the Northeastern Nigeria child protection system and humanitarian coordination practices and guidelines
  • Ensure CHAD Child Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Minimum Standards are mainstreamed through all the projects activities
  • Report serious cases of abuse committed against children to the Child Protection Project Manager. Strict confidentiality must be respected.

Mandatory Requirements

      Job Title: Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) Officer Location: Borno State Job Type: Contract Job Duration: 9 months Slot: 2 Openings Position Summary
  • The Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) Officer conduct FTR works with FTR case workers at field level to provide identification, documentation, Tracing, reunification, follow ups and interim family based care services to unaccompanied, separated and missing children as well as supporting caregivers.
  • The incumbent plays a key role of managing FTR caseload through CPIMS database system by collaborating with FTR Database Manager.
  • The FTR Officer organizes and conducts FTR field missions and support to FTR caseworkers by also collaborating with FTR Coordinator at National level.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities In co-ordination with the FTR Coordinator, FTR database manager and FTR Caseworkers and with the support of other tracing team members perform:
  • Develop weekly FTR schedules and assign cases to FTR caseworkers, debrief them on progress and troubleshoot any particular follow-up, tracing or documentation challenges.

      Job Title: Finance Officer Location: Borno Job Type: Contract Job Duration: 9 Months Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Approves payments, purchase authorizations and other financial transactions to ensure compliance with staff rules, financial rules and implementing instruments/authority.

  • The Caseworker will be responsible for providing individual case management as part of the case management project.
  • The Caseworker will conduct all steps of the case management process for an assigned number of individual children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence (especially UASC and CAAFAG) and their families in this process.

  • Minimum of 1year experience of implementing child protection programs, preferable social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings.

      Job Title: Case Management Officer Location: Borno Job Type: Contract Job Duration: 9 Months Position Summary The Case Management officer, under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist/Technical Adviser will be responsible for:
  • Supervising the implementation of the Case Management activities in the various communities
  • Supervising case workers
  • Supervising and participating case conference and case review the
  • Coordinating with relevant stakeholder involved in CP
  • The Case Manager officer will ensure that project activities are consistent with CHAD’S programming principles and approaches, draw on relevant best practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and are compliant with donor regulations.
Key Areas of Accountability
  • Support on and keep up-to-date a map of existing services to which children and families can be referred to.
  • Link case workers with service providers and support effective collaboration
  • Supervise and coach case workers on the identification, assessment, documentation, referral (to relevant services) and follow-up of at-risk children and families
  • Supervise and support the case workers in family visits if necessary
  • Organize weekly case management conferences/ case review with all case workers
  • Ensure that case workers respect confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines
  • Ensure that files, registers and computer databases are used in an appropriate and correct manner and ensure case workers adhere to proper documentation and data protection protocols
  • Support the implementation of the Inter-Agency Child Protection Information Management System
  • Review the follow up of cases, and ensure all cases are managed within acceptable timelines
  • Work in close collaboration with the community mobilisers to strengthen our relationship with the community and to strengthen the referral system.
  • Work with the child protection team to ensure close links between case management and our work with community based child protection mechanism.
  • Ensure internal referral mechanisms (with other sectors) are in place and cases are appropriately managed and followed up when referred
  • Ensure constant and transparent communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including community members, community leaders and families
  • Document best practice, case studies and learning
  • Share information on field-level successes and challenges with the Child Protection officer.
  • Ensure that major challenges are flagged early, and addressed in an appropriate way;
  • Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of child protection risks
  • Support the preparation of all procurement and administrative documents required for case management implementation.
  • Support the Child Protection Manager in the ongoing capacity building of case workers
  • Submit regular case management reports and ensure that information is kept up to date
  • Coordinate with other agencies offering case management services to children on referral and transfer of cases
