St. Saviour’s School Ebute - Metta, the pioneer School of the St. Saviour’s Schools (St. Saviour’s School, Ebute – Metta and St. Saviour’s School, Ikoyi) was founded in 1951 and for 47 years provided quality education to primary school-age children. In 1998 the St. Saviour’s School, Ebute – Metta in a bid to continue nurturing children, started the nursery school and today proudly provides an enabling environment which inspires excellence and lifelong learning to children between ages 3 and 11.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Summary

• The Accountant will perform day-to-day accounting functions of the School. Prepares accounting reports and ensure accurate record keeping.

Job Description

• Contribute to the annual budget preparation
• Ensure up-to-date records of all expenditure and income
• Prepare petty cash vouchers for money spent from cash imprest account.
• Maintain cash imprest account.
• Prepare monthly salary schedule and ensure prompt and accurate payment
• Ensure reconciliation of accounts and ledgers
• Manage Asset register and depreciation
• Ensure cheques issued to customers are recorded in the cheque dispatch book before they are given out.
• Undertake such duties that may be reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties of the post. Any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms.
• Responsible for compliance with all financial regulations.
• Maintain accurate and up to date record to enhance efficient retrieval of documents and aid decision making
• Receive and issue receipt school fees and any other payments
• Enter all cheques/payments received into the bank ledger.
• Prepare payment schedule and vouchers for bills approved by the Head Teacher/BOM
• Any other duties as directed by the Finance Manager/ Head Teacher.

Requirements
Required Education:

• First Degree
• ACA, ACCA, CPA, ACTI certification

Required Experience:

• At least Four (4) years post qualification experience as an Accountant of a medium or large organisation
• Hands-on experience in the use of SAGE is an added advantage
• Proficiency in Excel is required
• Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard and Auditing is an added advantage
• Knowledge of tax and tax compliance in Nigeria
