Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious international aid organization. Our teams are committed to supporting civilians’ victims of marginalization and exclusion, or hit by natural disasters, wars and economic collapses, by answering their fundamental needs. Our aim is to provide emergency relief to uprooted people in order to help them recover their dignity and regain self-sufficiency.
The PUI Nigerian Mission has been officially opened in April 2016, with a focus on meeting urgent needs, including improving access to food commodities, primary health care and nutrition for Internally Displaced People (IDP) and host communities (HC) living in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC).
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Air Cargo Consolidation Project Manager (National)
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Overal Mission
General Objective:
- Under the direct supervision of the DFCP, ensure the timely, accurate, and effective management and implementation of the Air Cargo Consolidation Project.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the Air Cargo Project
- Ensures that project planning and monitoring tools are up to date and accurate
- Updates the project monitoring tools on a monthly basis to reflect project implementation status
- Drafts monthly progress reports in line with project and donor requirements
- Follows up with project logistics, HR, and financial aspects of the project
- Ensure team building among his/her team
- Conduct appraisals every six months for the staffs under his/her supervision
- Participate in the recruitment process of the staffs under his/her direct supervision.
- Support the staff under his/her direct management in the fulfilment of their duties
- Report to his/her line manager problems and/or concerns on technical issues
- Provide training to the Air Cargo team as necessary
- Solve team conflicts, if any occurs among the team
- Ensures that project procurement planning is up to date
- Follows relevant procurement processes to ensure project logitics needs are met
- Updates procurement follow-up on a weekly basis for her/his project
- Ensures that all licences granted by relevant aurthorities are up-to-date and accurate
- Leads the Air cargo external coordination efforts with INGOs
- Ensures that all agreements with external partners are up-to-date
- Raises any issues to the Deputy field co and Field co as necessary in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensures that financial planning and project BFUs are updated on a monthly basis in a timely and accurate manner
- Follows up with project budget to enusre spending is in accordance with planning
- Reports any major issues related to budgetary planning to his line manager as necessary
- Follows relevant financial process to ensure project financial needs are met
- Internal and External Liaison:
- Coordinates with the relevant authirities in coordination with the Security and Liason officer, and the Field Coordinator to maintain continued access to airport
- Language skills: Fluent in Hausa and English (Kanuri is a plus)
- Education degree: University or technical degree in Social Science, Supply Chain, Management, Logistics
- Work experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position (NGOs/private companies)
- Knowledge & skills: Good analytical and writing skills. Good management capacities and team leadership spirit
- Computer skills: Good knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Outlook. Excellent Excel knowledge
- Good skills in reports and contracts redaction
- Knowledge of humanitarian actors
- Good management and pedagogical skills
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations
- Commitment to the NGO values and principles
- Understanding of the political situation in the area
- Rigor and organization
- Conflict resolution and diplomacy experience
- Team management
- Able to analyze and suggest improvement
- Able to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work
- Able to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organization itself
