Job Description
- We are looking for an entrepreneurial and high-performing City General Manager to take full ownership of Shuttlers' business in Port Harcourt. As the single-threaded owner of city performance, you will hold the P&L accountability and drive the strategic direction for the region.
- You will be responsible for building a profitable, scalable, and compliant operation.
- Beyond operational excellence, you will serve as the primary custodian of our brand in the FCT and environs, representing Shuttlers with regulators and enterprise partners, and championing our sustainability goals by actively driving the adoption of energy-efficient vehicles (CNG, EVs) within the city’s fleet.
Key Responsibilities
P&L Ownership & City Strategy:
- Financial Performance: Own the city P&L, delivering a gross margin of ≥30% per trip. Manage weekly forecasting of demand, supply costs, and contribution margins to ensure profitability.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the city’s growth roadmap, making data-driven decisions on route launches, closures, and pricing strategies (within HQ guardrails).
- Cost Discipline: Implement rigorous cost controls and margin discipline across all city operations, ensuring zero tolerance for financial inefficiencies.
Supply Ecosystem & Green Fleet Strategy:
- Fleet Growth: Oversee the sourcing and onboarding of new vehicle partners to meet demand targets.
- Sustainability Leadership: Lead the local execution of Shuttlers' Green Fleet Strategy, aggressively sourcing energy-efficient vehicles (CNG, Hybrid, EV) to diversify the Abuja energy mix and reduce operating expenses.
- Partner Capacity Building: Move beyond simple vendor management by helping fleet partners scale. Implement "Growth Playbooks" that assist partners in professionalizing their operations, maintenance, and driver management.
Demand Growth & Market Penetration:
- B2B & B2C Expansion: Drive aggressive growth in Monthly Active Riders (≥8–10% MoM) across both enterprise (B2B) and individual (B2C) segments.
- Enterprise Retention: Build and maintain high-level relationships with key enterprise customers and estates, ensuring a retention rate of ≥90%.
- Customer Experience: Champion the rider experience, ensuring CSAT/NPS scores remain within or above HQ benchmarks.
Operational Excellence, Safety & Compliance:
- Reliability: Ensure "Shuttlers Standard" service delivery with ≥98% On-time Departure and ≥95% Vehicle Uptime.
- Regulatory Management: Serve as the primary interface with Rivers State regulators and transport unions, ensuring full compliance with local transportation laws.
- Safety First: Enforce strict safety protocols and zero tolerance for partner indiscipline.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Team Building: Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing city leadership team (Ops, Sales, Supply).
- Culture: Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and operational rigor.
Key Metrics & Targets
- City EBITDA: Positive contribution after allocation.
- Gross Margin: ≥30% per trip.
- Seat Utilization: 70–80%.
- Service Reliability: ≥98% On-time Departure; ≥98% Fulfillment Rate.
- Growth: ≥8–10% Monthly Active Riders growth.
- Partner/Customer Retention: ≥90%.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of professional experience in Operations Management, General Management, Strategy, or Logistics.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in mobility, tech-logistics, or high-growth startups is strongly preferred.
- Local Context: Deep understanding of the Abuja market, regulatory landscape (including union dynamics), and transportation dynamics.
- Leadership: At least 4 years in a P&L ownership or senior supervisory role, preferably managing multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Data-Driven: Proficiency in using data to track unit economics, fleet utilization, and partner profitability.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent negotiation skills for dealing with regulators, unions, and high-value enterprise clients.
- Operational Grit: Ability to make real-time, difficult decisions to resolve operational disruptions.
Salary and Benefit
- N1,000,000 / Month.
- Compensation includes a competitive market-based base salary
- A performance bonus (20–40% of base) tied to P&L/Reliability, and
- Long-term Incentives (Equity/Profit-share) subject to tenure and performance.
