College Librarian at the Federal College of Education, Obudu

The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State, invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: College Librarian

Location: Obudu, Cross River

Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the College Librarian include but are not limited to the following:

• He/she shall be responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College Library and coordinating the Library services in the teaching units of the College.
• Forming overall Library policy, contacts, and liaising with Departments on book requirements.
• Preparation of Library budgets.
• Giving professional advice on Library matters.
• Perform any other function which the Council or Provost may so direct.

Qualification / Requirements
Candidates must possess the following requirements:

• A good Bachelor's Degree and Master in Library Science (MLS) from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least 15 years of cognate experience and registration with a professional library body, OR a PhD in Library and Information Science with at least 12 years of cognate work experience with evidence of registration with a professional library body.
• Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
• Present evidence of sound human relations, professional competence, industrial integrity, and efficient management of human and material resources.
• Must be Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for a period of not less than five (5) years in a College of Education system.
• Must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer.
• Must not be above the age of 59 at the time of taking up the appointment.

Terms of Appointment / Conditions of Service

• Conditions of Service are as contained in the current 2015 Revised Schemes and Conditions of Service for Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

Duration of Tenure

• The tenure for the appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years from the date of appointment.

Salary

• Consolidated salary for Registrar and College Librarian of the Federal Colleges of Education will apply.
