Director of Works at Jigawa State College of Remedial and Advanced Studies, Babura (JICORAS)

The College of Remedial and Advanced Studies, Babura (JICORAS) came into being following the taking over of the College of Remedial and Advanced Studies Kafin Hausa by the State own University (Sule Lamido University). Following this development, the Jigawa State Government enacted an Act on July 6th, 2019, which provides for the establishment of the present College. This transition gave birth to the development to operate on a collegial system.

Job Title: Director of Works

Location: Babura, Jigawa

Description

• The Director of Works is the head of the Works Department of the College.
• He shall be responsible to the Provost for the general maintenance and repairs of buildings and other movable properties of the College.

Responsibilities

• Implementation of the College physical master plan
• Overall control of Works and Estate Department.
• Preparing the Works Department's budget and exercising budgetary controls.
• Keeping an inventory of all College vehicles and taking responsibility for their maintenance, security and upkeep.
• Supervision of all staff in the Works Department.
• Formulating divisional strategies to achieve Institutional goals.
• Planning and controlling the technical activities of the Works Department.
• Advising the Provost on acquisition, operation and maintenance of all fixed assets of the College.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the provost.

Requirements

• A Bachelor Degree / HND in the fields of Engineering, Quantity Survey, Architect, and Building with specified qualifications in project/work management in an in Institution of Higher Learning.
• Candidate must have at least 12 years of cognate working of experience in an Institution of Higher Learning.
• Candidate must possess a professionally recognised certificate with a current practising license. Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an added advantage.
• A registered Engineer with a Master's Degree in a the field of Engineering, Quantity Survey, Architect and Building.
