Explore Humanitarian Aid Initiative (Explore Aid) is a non profit organisation working to support conflict affected communities in North Eastern Nigeria through protection, psychosocial support, livelihoods, research and evidence based advocacy.

The Advancing Survivor Centred Transitional Justice in North Eastern Nigeria project seeks to promote healing, accountability and reintegration for survivors of conflict related violence, including sexual and gender based violence, across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States. The project strengthens safe spaces, referral pathways, documentation of harms, community dialogues and policy advocacy, with a strong focus on survivor dignity, safety and participation.

Job Title: Female Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Description

  • The Female M&E Assistant will support the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities for the Advancing Survivor Centred Transitional Justice in North Eastern Nigeria project in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States.
  • The position is reserved for female candidates to enable safe, confidential engagement with female survivors.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the project M&E plan and indicator tracking tools in project locations.
  • Assist in designing and pretesting data collection tools for surveys, assessments and routine activity tracking.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to safe spaces and community activities and prepare brief monitoring reports.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, case studies and success stories from project communities.
  • Assist in training and mentoring community volunteers and partner staff on basic data collection and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to data protection, confidentiality and informed consent procedures, especially when working with survivors of violence.
  • Support quantitative and qualitative data collection including surveys, key informant interviews and focus group discussions.
  • Enter, clean and manage project data using Excel, Kobo or similar tools and keep databases up to date.
  • Assist in basic data analysis and preparation of tables, charts and short summaries for internal meetings and donor reports.
  • Perform other M&E related tasks as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Borno, Adamawa or Yobe States and willingness to travel to field locations.
  • Strong attention to detail, good analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and good working knowledge of Hausa. Knowledge of Kanuri or other local languages used in BAY States is an added advantage.
  • High level of discretion, respect for confidentiality and commitment to survivor centred and conflict sensitive approaches.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, research, data collection or information management, preferably with an NGO.
  • Practical experience using tools such as Kobo Collect, ODK or Google Forms for data collection.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience on protection, GBV, transitional justice, peacebuilding or humanitarian projects is an advantage.
