Job Title: Legal Associate

Location: Lagos Island, Lagos

About the Job

  • The ideal candidate for this position will provide legal support to the firm in relation to all matters with a diverse range of transactions in civil & commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, corporate governance, company secretarial, corporate restructuring and other related matters.
  • To assist with these efforts, the candidate will conduct legal research, develop litigation strategies, draft legal & court processes and maintain prompt court appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research, develop litigation strategies, draft briefs and other court processes
  • Structure, negotiate and draft agreements
  • Conducting or attending meetings on behalf of the firm or its clients
  • Maintain proper, effective and prompt court appearances.
  • Draft and review commercial agreements
  • Conduct interview and advise clients on legal principles
  • Conduct due diligence, manage and draft agreements for property transactions
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on varying legal issues as may be assigned by senior associates and partners.
  • Conduct Legal research and drafting of legal opinions on complex questions of law

Educational qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a University degree in Law, Call to Bar Certification and membership of the Nigerian Bar Association
  • A 2.1(Second Class Upper Division) in University or the Nigerian Law School is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years post call experience with a strong litigation bias
  • In-depth understanding of transactions and dispute resolution processes
