Job Title: Program Manager - Regulatory and Public Policy

The Role

  • Flutterwave is seeking a seasoned Program Manager, Regulatory and Public policy; to drive regulatory compliance initiatives in the fast-paced fintech landscape.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for organizing programs and activities for our Regulatory and Public Policy Related engagements.
  • You will be tasked with developing programs to support the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals.
  • You will also be in charge of developing budgets and operating plans for programs and writing program funding proposals.
  • The function may involve travel within the region and sometimes to other international destinations. 

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure the organization's compliance with financial regulations and policies. Stay updated with changes in regulations and industry best practices.Ensuring Flutterwave is well positioned to take advantage of potential partnerships with national government agencies particularly in the areas of financial inclusion, payments digitization, including facilitating potential government programs that may benefit from the application of electronic payments. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, legal experts, and external partners to integrate compliance requirements into the product development lifecycle. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among different teams.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Collaborate with legal, compliance, and public policy teams to develop and implement internal policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements. Monitor adherence to these policies across the organization
  • Creating and managing long-term goals for the team: Develop a budget and operating plan for the program. Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement. Ensuring goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance.
  • Developing proposals: Write program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services.
  • Team Management: Work on strategy with the Regulatory Affairs team. Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities.
  • Regulatory Analysis and Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough analysis of new and existing regulations. Assess the impact on our products and services, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and external partners. Represent the company in regulatory discussions and ensure positive relationships with relevant stakeholders. Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services.
  • Training and Awareness: Organize training sessions and workshops to educate employees about compliance requirements and foster a culture of compliance within the organization.
  • Program Reporting: Organize programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization. Developing new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization. Develop and maintain metrics and reporting mechanisms to monitor compliance program effectiveness. Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting compliance status, challenges, and progress.

Requirements
Required competency and skill set to be a waver:

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in program management and/or regulatory affairs
  • Experience working with Government or Regulatory bodies is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Business, Law or related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and lead cross-functional teams to achieve compliance objectives.
  • Certification in compliance or project management is a plus.
  • Ability to efficiently collaborate: The potential candidate will work very closely with Country, Group-level, and Global colleagues including, Business Development, Merchant Sales and Solutions, Risk, Compliance, Client Services, Corporate Social Impact, Legal, Marketing, Strategy and Product groups
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience managing a team.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a proven ability to manage complex programs involving multiple stakeholders; preferably  in the payments industry

Job Scope

  • This role will be report to the Chief Regulatory and Public Policy Officer, 
  • Liaises closely with functional colleagues in the region and around the world to develop and refine best practices.
  • The potential candidate will work with cross-divisional business teams as subject matter expert on regulatory issues and government relations.
