Senior Lawyer in a Reputable Oil Exploration and Production Company

We are a reputable Oil Exploration and Production Company with active operatorship of prolific blocks and Oil and Gas Assets in the Niger Delta. As a result of our new expansion and development programmes, we are seeking to engage experienced, passionate and resourceful Managing Director and other Management topshotsin Drilling, Completions, Facilities Management, Accounts, Commercial and Legal.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Lawyer

Location: Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• This position requires seasoned and consummate Lawyers with good knowledge of corporate and Oil & Gas lows. 
• The ideal candidates must have a minimum of twenty [20] years relevant post call experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to company's Upstream businesses
• Provide legal advice and support on substantial and complex offshore exploration opportunities, including supporting exploration ventures in civil and common law jurisdictions
• Lead legal team to ensure delivery of integrated and purposeful legal advice with an end-to-end value mindset.
• Represent the company on third party transactions.
• Provide advice in connection with key engagements with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
• Instruct and manage external legal advisers
• Identify and prioritize legal risks and alterative strategies on a variety of matters. 
• Ensure documents accurately reflect commercial decisions, always consistent with legal obligations and the control framework. 
• Ability to act as an integrator of legal advice and organize, participate, or as appropriate 

Qualifications and Required Competencies

• Membership of the NBA
• Good knowledge of Oil & Gas Laws. 
• Ability to work as part of a team and with both internal and external stakeholders with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Minimum of 20 years post call experience.
• Must not be more than 50 years of age.
• Must be proficient in the use of IT Software.
• Versatile in corporate law, legal drafting 
• Litigation, arbitration proceedings and special skill in vetting contract and international agreements.
