Patient Care Technician Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of a Patient Care Technician includes the following duties and responsibilities:

Participate in the admission and discharge process of patients
Make sure that patient rooms adhere to sanitation, safety and health regulations
Assist patient with their everyday activities (eating, clothing, bathing etc.)
Monitor patient's state and check their vital signs
Assist in keeping patient environment, patient equipment and patient care areas/units clean, safe and orderly
Provide help and answer to patients' needs and wants
Provide psychological and emotional support
Collect fluid samples for testing
Help nurses with administering different medical treatments
Perform basic nursing procedures (e.g. changing bandages)
