Soil Scientist Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of a Soil Scientist includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assessing and examining soil samples
  • Analyzing and interpreting data
  • Monitor or supervise laboratory research
  • Modelling information using specialist computer applications and preparing reports, maps and publications.
  • write research reports and make presentations on findings, including scientific research papers and non-scientific client reports
  • Interpret science to inform policy
  • Integrate soil science knowledge into aspects of land management and ecosystems
