The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian for the position below at the Institute's headquarters in Abuja: Job Title: Treasury Accounting Technician (Foreign Payment) Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2017-0020 Location: Abuja Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract) Responsibilities Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Handle blank cheques during working hours and also write cheques;
  • Keep bank book records and reconcile bank statements, and statements of accounts of Suppliers;
  • Initiate letters of funds transfer, give notice of remittance of funds transfer to payees and respond to enquiries on funds transfer and payments;
  • Assist in the reconciliation of accounts from IITA Limited (UK); collate foreign suppliers’ cheques and mailing through IITA Limited;
  • Respond to Internal/External Auditors’ queries on payment to suppliers;
  • Handle Oracle AP and GL responsibilities and carry out data entry activities;
  • Assist in updating cheques register;
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • OND in Accounting or related field with 4 years’ experience performing similar role. Possession of ICAN certificate is an added advantage.
Competencies:
  • Must be friendly, agile and hardworking.
  • Must be honest, trustworthy, articulate and be able to work under pressure.
  • Conversant with the use of Oracle Financial application will be an added advantage.
Job Title: Facility Management Assistant Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2017-0019 Location: Abuja Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract) Responsibilities Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
  • Work as part of the operations team, providing support across the organization, specifically assisting with facilities maintenance and premises management;
  • Participate in the day-to-day procurement, and management of contractors;
  • Assist the Station Administrator on major tasks relating to the premises and facilities;
  • Report and replace/repair all damaged assets.
  • Participate in preparing draft proposals for construction and alterations work including construction drawings,
  • Coordinate with contractors performing construction and alteration work to ensure that quality of services performed by the contractors is in accordance with set terms and conditions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of B.Tech/HND Mechanical, Civil or Agricultural Engineering or any other related discipline with at least 2 years working experience in a structured environment.
Competences The ideal candidate must have:
  • The ability to manage multiple priority tasks effectively;
  • The ability to work with little or no supervision under pressure in an agricultural working environment;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Prepare and write requisitions for purchase of equipment, material, spares, etc.; support the Procurement Committee to review and evaluate offers and coordinate with FMS and Supply Chain to ensure that jobs are carried out accordingly;
  • Perform any other duties, properly assigned by the supervisor.
  • Ability to drive IITA earthmoving equipment and vehicles using a valid Driver’s license.
Job Title: Farm Supervisor Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2017-0019 Location: Abuja Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract) Responsibilities Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
  • Supervise land preparation (mowing ridging, harrowing etc.) within IITA and offsite stations.
  • Jointly attend to and educate students, farmers, and other bodies during  excursions to IITA  with the Visitors Assistant.
  • Assist in driving IITA trucks to and frooffsite stations to convey tractors, equipment and implements.
  • Supervise operators on the use and maintenance of tractors and implements.
  • Coordinate the multiplication of all IITA mandate varieties including cover crops.
  • Initiate the establishment of irrigation facilities in Abuja station.
  • Supervise planting and harvesting of cover crops.
  • Assist in the management of the entire Abuja Farm to international standard.
  • Train the trainers on tractorization.
  • Perform any other farm duties as may be assigned by the Head of Station.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of B.Sc/HND in General Agriculture or Agricultural Engineering or any other Agricultural Extension related discipline with at least 3years working experience preferably in a very large farm.
Competences The ideal candidate must have:
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks effectively.
  • A good knowledge of Agronomy and/or Farm Management.
  • The ability to work with little or no supervision under pressure in agricultural working environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • The ability to drive IITA’s earth moving equipment and vehicles with a valid Driver’s license.
