Biochemical Engineer Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of a Biochemical Engineer includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and understanding current biomanufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Ensuring all biochemical processes are compliant with environmental regulations and governmental policies.
  • Developing products and waste removal techniques that have fewer negative environmental consequences.
  • Obtaining permits and completing patent applications as required.
  • Preparing diagrams and schematics using CAD software.
  • Working alongside other staff to develop and implement quality assurance processes.
  • Reading new scientific research, attending conferences, and networking with engineers, scientists, and other professionals.
  • Devising, overseeing, and leading experiments, studies, and other research initiatives.
  • Preparing project plans, which include allocating resources, delegating tasks, and providing budgetary estimates.
  • Developing simulations and models using various software.
