COVID-19 Sample Collector at EHA Clinics

EHA Clinics uses state of the art equipment to bridge the gap in the provision of high-quality diagnostics and healthcare through routine services (general consultations, laboratory investigations, pharmaceuticals, annual medical checks, child wellness checks, ultrasonography...etc) and specialized services (tele-medicine, medical evacuation, home care, dental care, ophthalmology, and radiology).

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Sample Collector

Location: Lagos

Summary of Job

• The Sample Collector reports to the Operations Manager of the clinic.
• S/he will undertake all operational and clerical duties in line with her outline Job description and will be responsible for the smooth running of COVID-19 sample collection. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, s/he must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

Administrative Duties:

• Triage of patients requiring COVID-19 tests.
• Creation of patient profile, adequate filling of triage information, and requesting lab tests on an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. 
• Proper sample handling, cold chain management, and reporting to the laboratory on the number of samples collected. 
• Ensuring sample collection logs are accurate and up to date
• Adheres to the EHA Clinics Code of Conduct as well as ethical standards of the field.
• Creation of sample labels on sample bottles
• Collection of nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal samples for the COVID-19 test.

• Other duties as assigned from time to time

Patient & Family Education / Support:

• Adheres to Policies and Procedures.
• Adheres to the EHA Clinics Code of Conduct as well as ethical standards of the field.
• Provide emotional support and measures to alleviate fear and anxiety.
• Participate in voluntary community health activities to promote, maintain, and restore health and prevent diseases.

Qualifications & Training

• A qualification from a school of health 
• Competent use of technology and work tools
• Basic Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control practices.
• Ability to communicate appropriately in fluent English language
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology

Work Experience:

• No prior experience required.

• Must have the ability to handle different kinds of emotions as well as manage on-the-job stress.
• Must be physically and mentally stable to handle extended shifts as well as mental pressure.
• Must be able to review, analyze, and respond to the different situations they encounter daily.
• Must have good customer service skills and communication skills
• Must be able to plan and perform daily activities in an organized manner.
• Must be kind, compassionate, dedicated, and patient.

Desirable Requirements:

• Previous experience collecting COVID-19 samples
• Certification in Infection, Prevention and Control practices
• Previous use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems.
