Description

  • Sightsavers is implementing new strategic monitoring systems and process called Learning, Accountability, Monitoring, Performance (LAMP). This role will support the delivery of LAMP by, in line with organisational digital transformation, developing and maintaining a new suite of data visualisation and reporting tools.
  • The first reporting of LAMP indicators was completed in 2023 and we are now looking to develop our approaches to collection, reporting and visualisation with the next phase of data collection.
  • This high-level data will provide the organisation with the evidence to be able to evaluate Sightsavers performance against our key thematic strategies.
  • The LAMP Data Visualisation Officer will play a key role in producing the LAMP data visualisations that will inform the organisation about progress against the strategy and creating targeted analytics for key audiences and purposes.
  • The LAMP DVO will also work with colleagues within DART to present organisational reporting to key stakeholders, providing guidance on how to interpret the information and implement actions in response.
  • The role holder will also play a significant part in ensuring that the LAMP data visualisations are based on high quality data and clearly documented data analytical processes, responding to any issues raised by key stakeholders in relation to data quality.
  • They will work closely with the LAMP Data Quality and Capture Officer on this aspect of the role. It is anticipated the position will involve some international travel of up to 8 weeks per year.

Main Responsibilities
LAMP Data Visualisation and Reporting:

  • Develop and build the next generation of LAMP data analytics and visualisations for organisational reporting on strategic performance using PowerBI and other applicable tools.
  • Collaborate with the LAMP Data Quality and Capture Officer on data cleaning, as well as dataflow creation and maintenance to ensure data captured for LAMP is fully documented and represented clearly and coherently.
  • Ensure LAMP data visualisations complement other organisation reporting.
  • Ensure all LAMP data visualisations adhere to organisational standards on accessibility.
  • Ensure all LAMP data visualisations represent best practice in data visualisation.

Embed LAMP Reporting into Organisational Systems and Processes:

  • Collaborate with DART colleagues to integrate other aspects of organisational reporting into the LAMP visualisations. This could include qualitative data such as research, learning questions, evaluations, proposals, donor reports and general project management.
  • Work with key stakeholders at country level to develop country-based visualisations of the relevant data to enable LAMP-based reporting to influence project delivery and performance.
  • Establishing feedback loops from country teams, through training and consultations, to feed into the further establishment of LAMP at programmatic level.

Programmatic Data Visualisation and Reporting:

  • Working in collaboration with other members of DART to develop thematic and programmatic
  • data visualisation and reporting tools, with a specific focus on Economic Empowerment (a key strategic theme for Sightsavers).

Enhancing Organisational Skills and Knowledge in Data Analytics and Visualisation:

  • Exploring the functionality of artificial intelligence and qualitative reporting tools in relation to data analytics and reporting.
  • Supporting broader approaches to data collection, visualisation and reporting as Sightsavers prepares for the implementation of data collection through DHIS2.

Job Requirements
Essential:

  • Undergraduate Degree in ICT, Data Analytics, Informatics, Data Visualisation, Statistics OR equivalent professional certifications or work-based experience in relevant sector.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent data visualisation software.
  • Understanding of good data cleaning practices to prepare data sets for use in analytics. Experience working and supporting staff in different contexts (face to face, online).
  • Understanding of international development issues and a commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people.

Desirable:

  • Master's Degree in related subjects (e.g. Data Analytics, Organisational Development).
  • Relevant overseas experience e.g. voluntary work.

Skills (training or competence):
Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information, practices, and ideas to a non-technical audience.
  • Comfortable with manipulating quantitative and qualitative data and documenting analytical processes.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to identify important issues and communicate these effectively to colleagues.
  • Experience of bringing together data from multiple sources/data formats to create data reporting hubs in PowerBI or equivalent
  • Understanding of Power Query either through Excel or Power BI.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise work in a high-pressure environment with competing deadlines.
  • Able to work with multiple stakeholders and ensure differing concerns and priorities are effectively managed.
  • Experience of using Power BI to create reporting tools for the presentation of qualitative and quantitative data

Desirable:

  • Experience of using visual other analytics software such as Tableau or creating visualisations in DHIS2.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Apps / Power Automate
  • Spoken and written French language skills.
